Role Overview As APAC Tax Associate Director, you will be part of the Firm’s tax department and report to the International Tax Director in London. The tax department is responsible for Compliance, Risk Management and Planning across all aspects of the organisation. The APAC Tax Associate Director will be responsible for these matters as they relate to APAC. The role will be supported by the broader tax team and outside advisors, where necessary. In this role, you will be responsible for the following: Work with the internal finance team and external advisors/accounting firms to prepare and review corporate income tax provisions and returns for various Trading Funds and Management entities Work with external advisors and accounting firms to prepare and review indirect tax returns (VAT, GST, customs) for various Trading Funds and Management entities Assist with maintenance and implementation of global transfer pricing policies and related documentation Assist with local APAC business initiatives Assist with local enquiries and audits Assist with global mobility queries, policies and enforcement of such policies Assist the global payroll team with understanding local rules regarding wage sourcing and fringe benefits treatment Assist with APAC investment and trading-related queries, working with the broader tax team and other stakeholders to ensure consistency in global approach Stay apprised of APAC and international tax initiatives Work with the International Tax Director to gather information, resolve tax-related problems and effectively manage the tax profiles of the Funds and Management entities Assist in the design and documentation of internal controls, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations Qualifications &Requirements The ideal candidate will have experience in the financial services industry with a focus on tax. The candidate must have: Knowledge of investment funds and management companies, and their associated tax matters Ability to work collaboratively across departments and learn new processes Professional conduct in all dealings with internal staff, external partners, clients and regulatory agencies Ability to identify and implement appropriate solutions Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently to meet deadlines Demonstrated reliability and commitment to completing work to a high standard Strong attention to detail and organisational skills Ability to prepare clear written tax analyses and communicate tax matters effectively Education, Training &Experience Bachelor’s degree plus CA or ATA (or equivalent) 7+ years of experience in a tax-related role within a bank, hedge fund, prop trading firm, or in a tax advisory / accounting firm supporting banks, hedge funds, or prop trading firms Experience in corporate income tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing, and/or international tax matters in a financial services environment Experience working with investment funds and management companies, or advising on the tax matters of such entities, is preferred
