About the Role We are seeking an experienced Software & Applications Manager to lead the delivery, maintenance and enhancement of enterprise applications supporting banking operations. The successful candidate will manage application development initiatives, collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams, and ensure applications are delivered in accordance with business requirements, security standards and project timelines. The ideal candidate possesses strong AS400 COBOL development expertise, hands-on project delivery experience and a solid understanding of banking systems, particularly within the credit card domain. AS400COBOL development experience preferred (additional Open System experience is a plus) Key Responsibilities 1. Lead application development, enhancement and maintenance activities for enterprise banking applications. 2. Manage end-to-end Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirement gathering, design, development, testing, deployment and post-production support. 3. Work closely with business users, project managers, infrastructure teams and external vendors to deliver technology solutions. 4. Analyse business requirements and translate them into technical specifications. 5. Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring quality and timely delivery. 6. Manage application incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement preventive solutions. 7. Ensure applications comply with security, governance and regulatory requirements. 8. Review application performance and recommend improvements for system reliability and efficiency. 9. Participate in production support, issue resolution and change management activities. 10. Prepare technical documentation and maintain development standards and best practices. Requirements 1. Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline. 2. Minimum 8 years of software development experience. 3. Minimum 4 years of experience managing application development projects or leading software development teams. 4. Strong experience in AS400 COBOL application development. 5. Experience working within the banking or financial services industry. 6. Credit card application experience is highly preferred. 7. Good understanding of SDLC methodologies and software delivery best practices. 8. Experience managing stakeholders across business and technical teams. 9. Ability to coordinate with multiple IT teams and vendors. 10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 12. Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 13. Self-driven, proactive and committed team player.
