Job Summary As Commercial Manager for bp’s Asia Pacific Lightends business, you will lead commercial strategy execution, drive business growth, and foster collaboration while upholding safety, ethics, and compliance standards. Responsibilities Business Leadership Develop and execute commercial strategies and business plans for the Asia Pacific Lightends region to drive growth. Collaborate with trading and origination teams to identify opportunities and prioritize initiatives supporting business expansion. Lead regional business planning including setting financial targets, resource allocation, and assessing organizational capability needs. Facilitate decision-making and coordination within the regional leadership team to align priorities. Align regional business objectives with bp’s global strategic goals. Commercial Performance Guide traders and commercial teams to achieve sustainable business results through portfolio development and opportunity prioritization. Monitor business performance metrics and address emerging risks and opportunities proactively. Enhance operational effectiveness to improve commercial outcomes and profitability. Risk, Governance and Compliance Promote a culture of integrity where team members feel empowered to raise concerns and ask questions. Ensure all trading activities comply with internal policies, external regulations, and the bp Code of Conduct. Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Credit, and Operations teams to support responsible commercial decisions. Advocate for strong governance practices across the business. People Leadership Foster an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative team environment that supports diversity. Lead talent development, succession planning, and build long-term organizational capabilities. Mentor and coach team members to maximize their potential and performance. Manage and support the Commercial Advisory team to deliver business objectives. Encourage continuous learning, innovation, and process improvements. Stakeholder Partnership Build and maintain strong relationships across trading, analytics, operations, risk, finance, compliance, and other business functions. Serve as a key liaison between the regional trading business and internal customers to facilitate collaboration. Work across geographies and disciplines to achieve shared business goals. Support the development of the bp Australia commercial interface and operating model. Required competencies and certifications Degree qualification or equivalent professional experience. Proven experience in commodity trading, commercial operations, or market-facing business environments. Knowledge of gasoline, petrochemicals, renewable fuels, or related commodities. Demonstrated ability to support commercial strategy and drive business performance. Strong understanding of trading markets, value creation, risk management, and commercial decision-making. Experience building productive partnerships across diverse teams and functions. Preferred competencies and qualifications Experience working across multiple regions or international markets. Experience supporting growth or development of commercial trading teams. Knowledge of gasoline, petrochemical, and renewable feedstock markets in Asia Pacific and global markets.
