Senior Backend Engineer – Global Payment

About Global Payment The Global Payment team of ByteDance provides payment solutions - including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, reconciliations, and so on to ensure that our users have a smooth and secure payment experience on ByteDance platforms including TikTok. 1. Participate in the design and development of global payment systems, including account membership, merchant services, wallet products, and operational platforms. Take ownership of planning, architecture design, business requirement delivery, and business growth. 2. Conduct in-depth business scenario analysis to identify users’ payment pain points, leverage best practices in account membership, merchant services, wallet products, and operational platform design, and drive systematic product development to support rapid business growth. 3. Contribute to overall system architecture design, setup, and optimization. Enhance system performance and development efficiency to ensure high concurrency, reliability, maintainability, and scalability. Proactively address technical challenges during system iterations, safeguard online stability and fund security, and improve team productivity and delivery quality. 4. Maintain a strong end-to-end perspective and holistic system thinking. Identify shortcomings in existing systems, locate bottlenecks, and improve overall system performance and service stability. 5. Drive technical innovation and research to enable fast-paced business development and efficient product iteration. Minimum Qualifications: - Minimum 5 years relevant work experience from a large-scale internet business - Solid computer science fundamentals, with proficiency in data structures and algorithms, and the ability to apply them flexibly to real-world problems. - Extensive coding and code review experience with strong coding practices. Proficient in at least one of the following: Java, Python, Golang, C++, or PHP. - Prior development experience in relevant business areas (account membership, merchant services, wallet products) or in systems related to marketing, payments, transactions, or user growth. Preferred Qualifications: - Strong self-motivation, communication skills, organizational skills, and team spirit. - Fast learner with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for products. Excellent communication skills and outstanding collaboration ability.
