St Joseph's Home, a Person-centered residential healthcare facility located in Jurong West, is redefining the way we take care of our elderly, and would like to invite suitable candidates to apply for the position of: Senior Laundry and Hygiene Supervisor Job Purpose The Senior Laundry and Hygiene Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Home's laundry, linen, and environmental hygiene operations to ensure a safe, clean, and infection-controlled environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The role supervises daily operations, staff performance, quality assurance, infection prevention practices, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and process optimisation. Key Duties and Responsibilities 1. Laundry Operations Management Oversee the full spectrum of laundry and linen services, ensuring efficient, safe, and hygienic operations. Ensure timely collection, sorting, washing, drying, folding, distribution, and storage of residents' clothing and facility linen. Coordinate prompt delivery of clean laundry to residents and departments according to service standards. Ensure proper segregation of clean and soiled linen in compliance with infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines. Review laundry workflows regularly to improve productivity and turnaround time. Investigate and resolve laundry-related incidents, complaints, or service issues promptly. 2. Hygiene & Environmental Cleaning Operations Supervise environmental cleaning operations to maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the Home. Ensure routine and terminal cleaning schedules are carried out according to established standards. Monitor cleaning quality in residents' rooms, common areas, clinical areas, offices, kitchens, and other operational spaces. Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection practices are followed using approved chemicals and equipment. Coordinate deep cleaning, outbreak cleaning, and special cleaning activities when required. Conduct routine hygiene inspections and implement corrective actions where necessary. 3. Staff Supervision & Development Supervise and lead laundry and hygiene staff to ensure efficient daily operations. Plan manpower deployment, work schedules, and duty rosters to meet operational requirements. Provide orientation, coaching, and on-the-job training on: - Laundry procedures - Cleaning techniques - Infection prevention and control - Workplace safety - Equipment operation Monitor staff performance and productivity. Conduct competency assessments and recommend training or performance improvement plans. Foster teamwork and a positive service culture. 4. Infection Prevention & Quality Assurance Ensure strict compliance with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) policies and procedures. Monitor handling of infectious or contaminated linen according to regulatory requirements. Conduct regular quality audits of laundry and cleaning services. Ensure all cleaning and laundry activities comply with healthcare accreditation standards. Support outbreak management by coordinating enhanced cleaning and linen handling protocols. Investigate incidents related to hygiene, contamination, or service quality and implement preventive measures. 5. Equipment & Facility Management Ensure all laundry equipment and cleaning machinery are maintained in good working condition. Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs to minimise operational downtime. Monitor equipment utilisation and recommend replacement or upgrades where necessary. Ensure staff operate equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines. Participate in procurement and evaluation of laundry and cleaning equipment. 6. Inventory & Resource Management Maintain adequate inventory levels of: - Linen - Residents' clothing supplies - Uniforms - Cleaning chemicals - Detergents - Consumables - Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Monitor linen usage, damage, and losses, and implement measures to reduce wastage. Ensure chemicals are stored and handled according to Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements. Conduct periodic stock counts and inventory reconciliation. 7.
