Job Summary The General Manager leads strategic and operational management of the construction business, ensuring project delivery, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and business growth through effective leadership of multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder collaboration. Responsibilities Develop and implement short-term and long-term business plans to drive company growth and operational excellence Oversee daily operations and management of the construction business to ensure alignment with strategic goals Lead and monitor multiple construction projects from tender and pre-construction stages through to completion and handover Ensure projects meet approved schedules, budgets, contractual obligations, and quality standards Review and optimize project progress, construction programmes, manpower deployment, material needs, and equipment allocation Monitor and control project budgets, cash flow, profitability, and overall financial performance Evaluate tender submissions, quotations, project costing, contract terms, and commercial risks to support informed decision-making Identify potential project delays, operational issues, and commercial risks; implement corrective actions to mitigate impact Manage relationships with clients, developers, consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to foster collaboration Lead contract negotiations, resolve contractual disputes, and oversee variation orders, claims, and payment processes Ensure compliance with Singapore construction laws, building regulations, employment requirements, and authority guidelines Implement workplace safety, environmental, quality assurance, and quality control standards across all projects Promote a strong safety culture and ensure project teams adhere to company safety policies and statutory requirements Establish operational procedures, reporting systems, internal controls, and performance standards to enhance efficiency Recruit, lead, supervise, and develop project directors, managers, engineers, and support staff to build high-performing teams Conduct regular management and project review meetings to assess progress, cost, quality, safety, and manpower performance Evaluate performance of employees, subcontractors, and suppliers to maintain high standards and accountability Develop new business opportunities and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients Represent the company at client meetings, tender interviews, authority meetings, and industry events to enhance company profile Prepare and present operational, financial, and project performance reports to directors or board of management Perform additional duties as required to support the company’s business objectives Required competencies and certifications Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline Minimum 10 years of relevant construction industry experience, including senior management or leadership roles Strong knowledge of Singapore construction practices, project management, contracts, tendering, cost control, and regulatory compliance Proven ability to manage multiple construction projects and lead multidisciplinary teams effectively Commercial acumen in budgeting, contract negotiation, claims management, and project financial oversight Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant construction or project management software Preferred competencies and qualifications Experience in general building, civil engineering, addition and alteration works, or design-and-build projects Other Information Require at least 10 years relevant work experiences.
