Delivers professional activities in the Actuarial job family. Learns various actuarial techniques and procedures. Performs tasks which are of a mathematical nature. Compiles and categorizes data, documenting and verifying the factors used in computations such as those used in developing rating factors to be used by Underwriting. Gaining knowledge about company operations, systems and actuarial methodologies. Applies standard techniques and procedures to routine instructions that require professional knowledge in specialist areas. Provides standard professional advice and creates initial reports/analyses for review. May provide guidance, coaching, and direction to more junior members of the team in Actuary. Position generally requires completion of 1 - 2 actuarial exams. Critical Tasks and Expected Contributions/Results: To support APAC valuation tasks for Australia and Singapore as follows: Assist in internal US GAAP reporting, local statutory reporting (e.g. ALCO and ORSA), as well as annual reserve and expense study Assist in setting reserves for financial close, conduct claims and loss ratio detailed movement analysis and understanding of underlying key drivers Assist in APAC reporting, e.g. monthly PYD computation and analysis Assist in IFRS17 reporting and related task including implementation and transition to business-as-usual process Assist in meeting both internal and external audit requirements for local reporting and IFRS 17 reporting Data preparation and assist in the development and maintenance of claims/actuarial database and analytic dashboards Provide support in optimizing and streamlining reserving processes. This includes proposing and implementing improvements while maintaining robust controls and proper documentation Participate in actuarial reserving projects and collaborate with other business functions in ad-hoc projects to implement key strategic initiatives Any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned Key Challenges/Anticipated Changes in Environment: Able to juggle priorities and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines Have strong financial acumen and professional integrity. Experience/Knowledge, Education and Other Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or related field of study Associate level or candidates actively pursuing actuarial qualifications from the Society of Actuaries, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, or comparable actuarial bodies 5+ years of relevant actuarial experience. Good knowledge and experience of valuation and reporting process Good understanding in health insurance, health claim process, healthcare systems, IFRS17 is a plus Good knowledge and strong interest in programming (e.g. Alteryx, AWS, ResQ, SQL and Tableau). Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Access, Powerpoint etc.) Strong communication and presentation skills Personal Competencies Required: Have good understanding of the Actuarial valuation function and operating models Strong analytical and numerical skills, applied to insurance and finance data domains Ability to apply technical knowledge and skills in automating and streamlining work processes Fast learner and detail oriented.
