Job Duties Trade a book of Crude Oil, Refined Products, and Options, deliver on budgeted revenues, and manage book risks across Asia-Pacific energy markets. Establish and maintain key internal and external relationships — including with Asia-Pacific refinery clients, trading houses, and regional counterparties — to deliver trades to the desk and develop the franchise across the region. Anticipate client demand in each respective product and market, with a particular focus on East-of-Suez crude flows, Asian refined product benchmarks (e.g., Singapore MOPS/Platts), and inter-regional arbitrage economics between the Americas and the Far East. Work in partnership with control functions including Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, and Finance to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure in accordance with Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) regulations and Citi's regional compliance framework. Price and trade energy derivatives including futures, swaps, and options and provide quick and accurate price quotes for clients across Asian and global trading hours. Determine trading opportunities from quantitative analyses — including cross-basin arbitrage, time-spread, and volatility strategies — and execute trades to monetize trading ideas and generate profits. Conduct complex quantitative research and utilize advanced computerized research and analysis methodologies, including Python programming, to implement complex calculations, statistical analysis (including regression), and data analysis to analyze trends, seasonality of fundamental data, and price movements. Perform quantitative trading back-testing to provide evaluations of portfolio and strategy performance. Analyze the volatility of a trade or strategy and the correlation between different trades to optimize the portfolio. Organize and analyze sophisticated financial, economic, statistical, and market data to be used in client proposals and strategic plans. Use local language knowledge to engage directly with regional clients, counterparties, and market participants. This role is based in Singapore. Core Education / Experience Requirement 3-6 years of experience in financial industry where at least 2 years include special skill requirements as provide below Requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field and 2 years of progressively responsible, post-baccalaureate experience as a Commodities Analyst, Trader, Commodities Program Analyst, or related position involving quantitative analysis, market making, and risk taking in global commodity trading, including energy derivatives and options. Special Skill Requirements 2 years of experience must include: Oil Derivatives pricing capability, including oil options pricing and option greeks management; Crude Oil and Refined Product market knowledge, including detailed knowledge of US oil and product markets. Quantitative Modeling of Financial and Commodity Markets; Python Programming for Data Analysis in a Financial Context; Commodity Management Software, Excel, Visual Studio Code, AI. Experience on a trading desk within a large global Financial Institution. Preferred / Advantageous Qualifications Proficiency in English, Mandarin Chinese and/or Korean (written and spoken) as they will be handling Asia clients Experience in cross-basin (Americas ↔ Asia) crude and product arbitrage; Up to 10% regional and international travel may be required.
