Role Summary The main purpose of a Shipbroker is to act as a specialist intermediary/negotiator between shipowners and charterers to arrange ocean transport of goods and commodities by sea, the employment of a vessel or to buy/sell ships on behalf of a client. We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented Shipbroker to join our Specialised Products team in our Singapore office. You will work alongside our experienced Brokers to help strengthen relationships with existing clients and develop new business. You will be driven and self-motivated and be a strong relationship builder. What you will be doing Market tonnage to customers/ shippers/ charterers Negotiate spot/time charters to achieve maximum income for the owners Be aware of the positions and desired strategic directions for each ship assigned Coordinate the allocation of sport and contract cargo to the ship assigned to the specific service Set up and negotiate deals, including presenting the business to potential clients, negotiating the main terms of a contract or sale and seeing it through to its conclusion and any follow up that may be involved Coordinate with Chartering and Operations Departments to maximize space utilization, minimize the number of port and berth calls and maximize the voyage’s financial results Coordinate all aspects of trans-shipments for respective cargoes Coordinate contracts of affreightment with customers to receive nominations on time and build programs which fit vessel schedules Maintain current voyage records and documentation to customers for tonnage loading within the service Assist the Operations Department to get an understanding of the more technical nature of shipping Maintain a thorough knowledge of all relevant charter party forms and company standard terms Check through charter parties What we are looking for Key Attributes A Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Business degree, majoring in Maritime Studies, Logistics or Supply Chain Management At least 1 years Shipbroking/Operations experience in Specialised Products with a reputable shipbroking firm Strong commercial sense and the ability to think on one’s feet Strong client management/ relationship building skills A strong personal drive to succeed Excellent negotiation skills and numeracy skills Solid presentation skills Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English A confident manner and a high level of self-motivation Strong team player Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
