The Assistant Accountant supports the Finance Department by ensuring accurate financial reporting, timely reconciliation of accounts, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient day-to-day financial operations. The role assists in maintaining strong internal controls, preparing financial records, supporting month-end closing activities, and contributing to the hotel's financial performance through accurate and timely accounting practices. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded. Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with accounting policies. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate outstanding items. Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities. Prepare supporting schedules and financial reports for management review. Accounts Payable Verify supplier invoices against purchase orders and receiving documents. Ensure timely processing of supplier payments. Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies. Maintain accurate vendor master records. Accounts Receivable Monitor guest and corporate receivables. Follow up on overdue accounts and coordinate collections. Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies. Assist with credit applications and account maintenance. General Ledger Maintain the integrity of the general ledger. Review account coding for accuracy. Assist with fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules. Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation. Payroll Support Assist in payroll reconciliation where required. Verify payroll journals and statutory deductions. Ensure payroll postings reconcile with the general ledger. Cash Management Perform daily cash reconciliations. Verify cash receipts and banking. Monitor petty cash balances and reimbursements. Investigate and resolve cash variances promptly. Compliance & Audit Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures. Assist internal and external auditors during audit exercises. Maintain proper documentation for all accounting transactions. Support tax, GST, and statutory reporting requirements. Budgeting & Reporting Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts. Support departmental financial analysis. Prepare variance reports and management information as required. Monitor expenses against budget. Internal Controls Ensure adherence to internal control procedures. Identify process improvement opportunities. Support fraud prevention initiatives and financial risk management.
