IT Business Analyst / Functional Ba - AML Banking Compliance Technology

Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Functional Business Analyst / IT Business Analyst to support Anti-Money Laundering banking compliance technology initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, compliance users, operations teams, system analysts, architects, developers, testers, and project teams to gather requirements, analyse business processes, document functional specifications, and support system delivery across AML-related applications. The role is suitable for candidates with strong banking technology experience, business analysis experience, and AML domain knowledge, including areas such as Name Screening, Customer Due Diligence, Know Your Customer, and Transaction Monitoring. Key Responsibilities Work with business stakeholders, compliance teams, and operational users to gather, clarify, and document business requirements. Perform business requirements analysis, requirements elicitation, and requirements documentation. Collaborate with business unit specialists to review, validate, and refine business requirements. Analyse and document current-state and future-state business processes, operational workflows, and system processes. Prepare Business Requirements Documents, Functional Requirements Documents, and detailed requirement specifications in line with bank standards. Analyse and define detailed functional requirements and non-functional requirements based on business, compliance, system, and migration requirements. Perform impact assessment across systems, processes, data flows, downstream applications, and operational procedures. Understand the existing banking technology landscape and support seamless integration across AML and compliance systems. Work with system analysts, solution architects, and technical teams to ensure the Business Requirements Document is clearly understood and translated into functional specifications. Review and sign off functional specifications prepared by system analysts. Prepare and maintain Requirements Traceability Matrix to ensure complete coverage from business requirements to testing. Review and confirm system capabilities against approved business requirements. Provide scope, assumptions, risks, and key considerations for IT management approval decks. Monitor and manage risks, issues, requirement changes, and scope creep during the analysis phase. Support change management processes within the business analysis phase. Write business functional release notes and contribute to deployment planning. Work with operational teams to define or update procedures where new system or process changes are required. Review test cases with System Integration Testing testers and ensure test coverage aligns with requirements. Provide functional support for System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing. Support defect clarification, requirement clarification, test execution queries, and business sign-off activities. Engage stakeholders to streamline system processing, operational workflows, and compliance-related business processes. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, Banking, Finance, or related field. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably within banking technology, financial services technology, or compliance technology. Strong Business Analyst / IT Business Analyst experience in banking or financial services. Hands-on experience supporting Anti-Money Laundering technology initiatives. Good understanding of AML domains such as: Name Screening Customer Due Diligence Know Your Customer Transaction Monitoring Compliance Screening Financial Crime Compliance Strong experience in business requirements gathering, requirements elicitation, requirements analysis, and requirements documentation. Experience preparing Business Requirements Documents, Functional Requirements Documents, functional specifications, process flows, impact assessments, and Requirements Traceability Matrix. Experience working with compliance users, operations users, technology teams, system analysts, architects, testers, and project managers. Experience supporting System Integration Testing and User Acceptance Testing. Good understanding of banking systems, compliance systems, operational processes, data flows, and system integration.
