About the role The Manufacturing Excellence Manager is responsible for leading strategic initiatives that drive operational excellence, digital transformation, and continuous improvement across global manufacturing engineering organisation. This role partners with cross-functional teams to identify, design, and implement scalable solutions that enhance productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency and every opportunity in to dollar value. For this role, the identified candidate is expected to collaborate and participate actively with internal Dyson teams and external partners to test feasibility, provide implementable mass manufacturable solutions at the targeted cost and within projected time frame. In addition, the identified candidate is also expected to review, benchmark, stay updated on the latest manufacturing technologies trends and able to identify critical manufacturing technologies roadmap in alignment with Dyson 3-5years project needs and requirement. This role may involve planning, conducting engineering experiment, in-depth data analysis, report writing to develop the manufacturing strategy, automation deployment strategy, organisational development and team structuring for effectiveness, building long term manufacturing growth plans across the regions in terms of employees as well as skill sets k. Besides possessing technical knowledge and capabilities, the ability to communicate, network and collaborate effectively with others is also vital for this role. Some travelling may be required from time to time depending on business needs. Key Accountabilities: Accountable and Responsible for Global Manufacturing Engineering (ME) transformation projects and priorities stating from strategy, team structure, effectiveness, automation journey etc.. Accountable and Responsible for end of end manufacturing strategy activities to drive the DDU , Assembly Cycle Time with innovative approach of DFx (Design of Manufacturing, Assembly, Service and Automation) by launching and driving tools, systems and process across Dyson and also to partners Accountable and Responsible to do detailed Automation assessments and work together with Partner to deploy early automation in projects by partnering with RDD and multiple sites Responsible for developing and delivering advanced manufacturing DFA global tool and deploy across Dyson and Partners to drive DFx maturity there by driving DDU reduction and MTM benchmark of 3600 seconds Responsible for developing SoW (Statement of Work) and executing PoC (Proof of Concept) on manufacturing process solution using inhouse resources or by means of collaborating with external partners for identified strategic projects Accountable and Responsible for conducting engineering assessment and facilitate cross team alignment and de-risk for all process risk related assessment such as NUDD, Design for assembly (DFA), Risk assessment, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA). Responsible to support P&E (Plant & Equipment) CAPEX, Equipment FMEA, Manufacturing Line Specification documents and any other cross team engineering assessment. Responsible for identifying business critical technical risks, plan engineering strategy, execute engineering experiment and data analysis to mitigate technical risks and ultimately deliver complex advanced manufacturing solution and process fit for mass production. Accountable and responsible for planning and execution of long term strategy and manufacturing guidelines and principles to add value Responsible for leading JDM ways of working model and Asset partnership and management across all CM+ and JDM partners models Lead LX and Evo projects automation assessment and DDU reduction opportunities by driving DFx programmes and automation enhancement Responsible for developing and managing central dashboards for KPI’s of the department , Cost savings inclusive summary and Manufacturing Technology initiatives Deploy engineering tools such as DMAIC, 8D, DOE, 5whys to troubleshoot process/equipment and process improvements. Report and articulate technical risks, project plan and report findings to key stakeholders with clarity and accuracy.
