Job Description: The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) serves as the lead medical crew member during patient transport operations. The EMT is responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care, safety, and compliance with clinical and transport protocols. Work Location: Islandwide assignments based on dispatch scheduling. Working Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (inclusive of two hours total break). (Monday to Saturday) Lunch Break: 1 hour Morning Tea Break: 30 minutes Afternoon Tea Break: 30 minutes Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays. Job Scope: A. Operational Tasks • Provide professional, compassionate, and clinically appropriate care to all patients. • Respond to non-emergency calls, including hospital discharges, medical appointments, dialysis transportation, and inter-facility transfers. • Attend to cross-border transfers and medical standby assignments when deployed. • Ensure all medical equipment is functional, clean, and stocked before and after each shift or patient transfer. • Assist patients safely in and out of the vehicle using stretchers, wheelchairs, or walking aids, always applying proper manual handling techniques. • Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs and condition throughout the journey, perform basic triaging, and report any deterioration to the relevant medical personnel or facility. • Keep accurate, clear records of patient condition, procedures, and transport logs. • Ensure strict adherence to infection control, hygiene, and safety procedures during all duties. • Ensure proper patient handover and communicate essential medical and transport information. B. Safety & Compliance • Adhere strictly to all Standard Operating Procedures, infection-control, and hygiene protocols. • Conduct informal and formal risk assessments before and during each transport to identify potential hazards and implement safe systems of work. • Immediately report any vehicle defect, malfunction, or safety concern to the direct supervisor. • Observe the Highway Code and company road-safety rules, maintaining full attention to safe-driving practices. • Ensure compliance with all Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements and participate in mandatory toolbox briefings and safety meetings. • Ensure vehicle inventory (AED, first aid kit, wheelchair restraints, etc.) is complete and functional. • Report all incidents, defects, or near-misses immediately to supervisors. • Wear prescribed uniforms and PPE properly, upholding company hygiene and infection-control standards. • Refrain from smoking in or near company vehicles and premises in accordance with the company’s No Smoking Policy. • Maintain compliance with all statutory regulations and organisational policies. • Attend and actively participate in pre-shift toolbox briefings and post-shift debriefings. Requirements: Minimum Secondary education (N Level) At least 1 year of verified experience as an EMT or ambulance medical crew preferred. Valid and accredited EMT certification (not expired for more than 2 years). AED + CPR / BCLS certification preferred. Physically fit and able to assist patients in and out of the vehicle when needed. Must be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident with a clean driving record. Pleasant personality with a strong passion for helping people, including the elderly and patients with mobility challenges. Technical Skills Requirement Proficient in-patient assessment, monitoring of vital signs, and providing basic life support (BLS). Skilled in safe handling and transfer of patients using stretchers, wheelchairs, and lifting aids. Familiar with operating and maintaining medical transport equipment such as AEDs, oxygen units, and suction devices. Maintains strict infection control and hygiene standards, ensuring all equipment and vehicle areas are properly sanitized.
