Additional job description To help realize the goal of Google Wallet deprecating your physical wallet for all real-world journeys, our team builds experiences that deeply integrate with device hardware, operating systems, and partner ecosystems. The team is responsible for a wide variety of features related to transit, access, digital car keys, as well as underlying secure element hardware, leveraging the unique capabilities of Android devices and their components. Qualifications Job responsibilities Collaborate with Android device manufacturers (OEMs) and vehicle manufacturer partners (vOEMs) to enable wallet features on various device types, including wearables and devices with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS). Develop software that interfaces with device hardware like NFC controllers, secure elements, and biometric sensors. Develop and scale secure digital credentials for transit, access control (campus, corporate, and residential), and automotive keys within Google Wallet. Collaborate with Android Auto and Platform teams to design and implement new APIs and capabilities that enhance wallet functionality and security. Work with Product Managers, UX Designers, Technical Program Managers, Business Development, Legal, and other Engineering teams within wallet and across Google. Engage with external partners to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and launch new integrations. Minimum qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin). 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms. 1 year of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java/Kotlin, Go, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience such as Kotlin, Java, or Swift. Preferred qualifications Experience working with external partners and device manufacturers. Proficiency in Kotlin and Java, and a strong understanding of Android internals. Strong in product excellence, testing and fixing issues for millions of users and critical partners.
