As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally. Additional job description In this role, you will lead a team dedicated to securing the global open-source supply chain. You will move security from an afterthought to a core development guideline by generating insights into software dependencies and integrating them into Google’s software factory. You will oversee the development of open-source projects, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), which provide transparency and security tools to the industry. Qualifications Job responsibilities Build and manage a team of software engineers, helping to maintain and grow culture and psychological safety. Support career development of team members, and be a good coach. Lead the overall planning, execution, and success of projects, as well as operations of services in support of the internet. Work with Product Management (PM), User Experience (UX), Technical Program Manager (TPM), and partner teams to ensure that we are building the best solutions possible. Design, guide and vet systems designs within the scope of the area, and write product or system development code to solve problems. Respond to new AI capabilities, leveraging them for defense in the changing security environment. Minimum qualifications Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience in software development. 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role. 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role. Preferred qualifications 5 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role. 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization. Experience in working with two or more from the following: open source technologies, security software development, vulnerability assessment, internet infrastructure, distributed and parallel systems, networking, or developing software systems. Experience with developing agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions. Ability to present complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
