Air Freight Assistant Manager

Job Summary The Air Freight Assistant Manager ensures smooth end-to-end import operations and collaborates with department managers to implement strategic air freight initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Responsibilities Monitor daily import activities including shipment documentation, carrier coordination, customs compliance, billing, and job closure to ensure operational accuracy Enforce adherence to established processes and service standards to maintain consistent quality and compliance Identify operational and system issues, assist in implementing process improvements, and support initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency and effectiveness Coordinate with Airfreight Operations, Customs, and other departments to facilitate seamless execution of import shipments Supervise staff managing all stages of the import process from shipment receipt to delivery and billing, ensuring team performance and customer satisfaction Preferred competencies and qualifications Knowledge and experience with Cargo Wise system to support import workflow management Effective communication and interpersonal skills to lead a team and manage customer discussions and interactions
