Role Summary The Engineering Tool Development Engineer focuses on the design and enablement of engineering tools and solutions for test platforms, with strong emphasis on tester bring‑up, debug, and characterization. This role provides hands‑on technical support in lab environments, integrates lab instrumentation into tester workflows, and ensures reliable data capture for failure analysis and characterization. The position works cross‑functionally with Device Product Engineering (PE), Validation, and Platform teams to standardize tester usage, improve engineering efficiency, and support evolving tester architectures and next‑generation test requirements. Key Responsibilities Tester Tool Design & Enablement Design device‑specific hardware solutions and engineering tester frameworks to support characterization, debug, and validation needs. Develop and refine engineering tools, debug features, and workflows that improve tester usability, observability, and diagnostic capability. Leverage AI‑enabled approaches to accelerate tester program development, bring‑up, and debug, ensuring outputs accurately reflect real tester behavior and silicon response. Engineering Support & Debug Provide hands‑on leadership for engineering tool and tester bring‑up, issue triage, and root‑cause failure analysis. Integrate and apply lab instrumentation (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power instrumentation) alongside testers to support detailed characterization and debug activities. Partner closely with Device PE and Validation teams to improve debug methodologies, reduce cycle time, and strengthen failure resolution quality. Cross‑Functional Collaboration Collaborate with global teams across Device PE, Validation, SIG, and Platform organizations to align on tester capabilities, limitations, and roadmap priorities. Contribute to next‑generation tester architecture and requirement discussions, providing practical, experience‑based feedback on tooling, usability, and engineering design needs. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 2+ years of experience in semiconductor test engineering, product engineering, validation engineering, or engineering tool development. Experience with semiconductor test platforms, tester bring-up, debug, and characterization. Experience in programing languages such as C/C++, Python, or similar. Experience using AI-assisted software development tools to improve software development productivity, code quality, debugging efficiency, and engineering workflow automation. Experience with debugging methodologies, root cause analysis, and failure investigation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret engineering data and drive technical solutions. Effective communication skills and ability to work across global cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.
