This role offers the opportunity to apply your data, AI, and engineering skills to design, build, and deliver impactful products and insights that improve the lives of workers, workplaces, and public servants at MOM. Candidates with no working experience to seasoned professionals will be considered. Comparable roles in other organisations include Data Scientist, AI Engineer, and Data Product Engineer. You will be part of the A2I team, a group of technologists with diverse backgrounds spanning policing, defence, public health, and enterprise technology. The team is embedded within Co-Lab, MOM’s multi-disciplinary innovation group that brings together technologists, behavioural scientists, and transformation professionals to tackle challenges across the Ministry. • Contribute to the development of a fast-growing agentic AI platform that has introduced first-in-class AI capabilities to public officers. • Collaborate across MOM and MOM family agencies to apply data science to meaningful issues such as worker welfare, workplace safety, and labour force transformation. • Design, build, and launch new products in partnership with stakeholders and users in the public service. Core competencies that will equip you to excel in the role: • Demonstrated ability to experiment rapidly and deploy ML solutions end-to-end. • Strong technical understanding of LLMs, including prompt engineering and building applications with them. • User-centric and experimental mindset with a focus on driving product impact. • Familiarity with using coding agents to accelerate experimentation and development. • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. • A belief in the potential of data and technology for public good. Experience in UI/UX design, product operations, observability & logging, specialised areas of data science (e.g., geospatial, A/B testing), or technical publications (academic or professional) will be an advantage. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a take-home technical assessment. The assignment is based on real-world case studies and covers skills including exploratory data analysis, data processing (ETL), and machine learning. There are no algorithm or data structures puzzles.
