About this role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Engineering Enablement team and drive company-wide developer productivity. You will build and evolve internal platforms, services, and toolchains that power engineering workflows across Motional. In this role, you will partner closely with teams across the organization to identify systemic bottlenecks, design scalable, self-service developer platforms that reduce cognitive load, streamline CI/CD workflows, and enable teams to move from code to production with speed and confidence. Your primary focus will be our internal developer platform and productivity tooling, enabling engineers to ship reliable, high-quality code faster and more efficiently. What will you be doing: Build scalable backend services, CI/CD pipelines, build systems, toolchains and platforms that can support developer workflows Work closely with engineering teams throughout the company to understand their needs, identify pain-points and drive initiatives to improve their development workflows Improve system reliability, performance, scalability, and observability across distributed systems by introducing new tools and/or building new features Monitor system performance and health, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact users Contribute to system architecture decisions and technical roadmaps What we hope you’ll come with: Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). 2+ years in Software Engineering or related roles. Strong background in modern programming languages (Python, Go, C++ are the ones we use). Experience with Unix-like environments, software, and toolchains. Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g. GitLab CI, Jenkins), cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, GCP) & infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation). Expertise in software development lifecycle including the ability to understand ambiguous goals and convert them into software requirements Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Bonus Points for experience with: Experience in the AV industry or robotics Deep expertise with mono-repo software development tools and services (e.g. Bazel) Previously been on on-call roster to support P1 & P0 systems Experience with AI/LLM integration, specifically building/extending Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to enhance developer productivity and system automation
