The Senior Occupational Therapist is responsible for assisting in the management of a specialised workgroup and for providing specialised assessment and treatment to patients referred for occupational therapy. He / She will assist in the supervision of occupational therapists AH11/12 and therapy assistants deployed to the workgroup. Job Responsibilities: Primary Responsibilities · Assesses and manages patients referred for occupational therapy independently and implement appropriate treatment plans, applying specialised occupational therapy knowledge and skills. · Reports to referring doctor and other members of the medical team. · Documents patient occupational therapy records accurately. · Charges patients accurately. · Updates individual performance statistical records monthly. · Complies with clinical and service standards. · Practices within areas of professional competence and seek clinical support from supervisor / other healthcare professionals when appropriate. Secondary Responsibilities : Clinical · Collaborates with other healthcare members and assists in the organisation and participation of occupational therapists in multidisciplinary case conferences. · Assists in reviewing and updating clinical protocols and SOPs based on available most-updated evidence-based research. · Participation in Clinical Education. Assists in the development and co-ordination of clinical education programme for occupational therapy students attached to the workgroup. · Assists in the initiation and the clinical research projects related to the workgroup. Service · Assists in the preparation of monthly performance reports for the workgroup. · Assists in the monitoring of key performance indicators of the workgroup (clinical / service quality, revenue and productivity). · Prepares and regularly updates the inventory for therapy equipment for the workgroup. · Assists in budgeting of therapeutic equipment and consumables and assists in the preparation of yearly capex and minor assets and operating budget documents for the workgroup. · Assists in managing complaints, preventing adverse events and promotes workplace safety. · Assists in developing, promoting and marketing new clinical services. Staff Development · Assists in the induction and / or takes on supervisory role of new occupational therapists deployed to the workgroup. Assists in updating of induction checklist/files relevant to the workgroup. · Assists in the identification the training needs, improves wellness and develops staff in the workgroup. · Contributes to department in service training programmes. Others · Actively updates occupational therapy knowledge and skills. · Contributes to hospital educational talks and external talks / workshops / forums / seminars. · Networks strategically with healthcare practitioners in AH to improve teamwork, efficiency and best patient care. · Assists in the management of projects assigned to the workgroup. Requirements · Recognized Diploma / Degree in Occupational therapy. · Postgraduate qualifications in relevant clinical specialty preferred. · 3 years of relevant work experience and full AHPC registration preferred. · Good communication and interpersonal skills. · Good supervisory and coaching skills. · Service oriented and customer focused. · Result oriented. · Team worker and also able to work independently. · Interest in working in the following areas: Geriatrics, Neurology, Orthopedics (including hand therapy) & Palliative Care. · Competent in using Microsoft Office software and competent in IT skills (Microsoft Excel / Word / Access / Powerpoint) If the role sounds interesting to you, please contact ‘careers_alexandra@nuhs.edu.sg’ to understand more on the role.
