Job Description The laboratory of Assistant Professor (Presidential Young Professorship) Liu Yuxin in the Biomedical Engineering Department at National University of Singapore seeks postdoctoral fellows with strong enthusiasm and interest in flexible electronics, bioelectronics, neurotechnology, brain-machine-interface research. Biological systems are typically soft and highly dynamic with cellular growth and functional self-renewal, while conventional implantable electronics are rigid and unable to intelligently accommodate a complex biological microenvironment, leading to the enormous functional and biomechanical gap at the bio-electronics interface. Through electronic material development and nano/microfabrication innovation, we will develop next-generation electronic materials and microelectronics that mimic the properties of biological tissue, autonomously respond to rapid cellular growth, while providing chronic and high-bandwidth neural-machine communication at single-cell precision. Together with a team of experienced clinicians and biologists, we will also develop precision electronic medicine that can treat chronic diseases via targeted and personalized neuromodulation. The successful candidate will contribute to research in neurotechnology, bioelectronics, neural engineering, and flexible electronics. Key responsibilities include: • Conducting independent and scientifically rigorous research in neurotechnology, bioelectronics, and related areas. • Designing and executing innovative research projects with strong critical thinking and experimental design capabilities. • Working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research team and leading multidisciplinary projects where required. • Supporting research involving nano/microfabrication, particularly the fabrication of polymeric electronic devices in cleanroom environments. • Contributing to research activities related to neural interfaces, electronic materials, and bioelectronic systems. Qualifications (1) A PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Flexible Electronics, Materials Science and Engineering or related fields (2) A strong interest in bioelectronics, neural engineering and/or flexible electronics. Scientific curiosity and motivation to perform scientifically rigorous experimental work (3) Research experience with animal or cell culture is advantageous (4) Strong verbal and written communication skills in English To apply, please send your cover letter, CV and names of 3 references (name, institution, email) to the NUS Career Portal. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
