Job Description The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Fellow for “The effectiveness of neutrophil-guided immune reprogramming in acute infection and immune resolution” in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology , Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine is committed to advancing medicine through immunological research and promote collaborative, cutting-edge research and technologies and data sharing to stimulate discoveries about the central role of the immune system in human health and harness its power to treat and diagnose a wide range of diseases. More information on the department is available at https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/mbio/. Appointments will be made on a 1-year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension. Purpose of the post Research Fellow (RF) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator to transform research plans into tangible outputs. Main duties and responsibilities The Research Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other members of the research team to advance projects focused on neutrophil biology, acute inflammation, immune resolution, and host defense. We are seeking a scientifically independent, driven, and intellectually curious researcher who is motivated to develop new ideas, generate rigorous and impactful findings, and build a strong publication record. The Research Fellow will be expected to: Design, perform, and analyze independent research projects related to neutrophil biology, inflammation, infection, immune regulation, and tissue repair. Develop increasing scientific independence by identifying important research questions, formulating testable hypotheses, and establishing experimental strategies to address them. Conduct complex experimental and analytical work, including the critical interpretation and integration of research findings across cellular, molecular, animal, and translational models. Contribute original ideas and develop new research directions with the potential to influence the field and support competitive grant applications. Produce high-quality research outputs, with emphasis on scientific creativity, rigor, significance, and international impact rather than publication quantity alone. Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant writing, scientific presentations, and communication of research findings. Support the coordination and management of research projects, including experimental planning, documentation, data organization, and collaboration with internal and external research partners. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers, research assistants, and undergraduate or graduate students. Contribute to laboratory organization, scientific discussions, and the development of a collaborative, rigorous, and intellectually engaged research environment. Assist with teaching, supervision, and other research-related duties assigned by the Principal Investigator. Qualifications The applicant should: Holds a PhD degree in immunology or cell biology or related disciplines; be able to work independently and in a team, have an investigative nature, attention to detail; have knowledge of computer applications, e.g. Adobe illustrator, Microsoft office, prism, Flowjo, Endnote, Biorender, and other routine software have experiences in the areas of research of immunology, innate immunity, inflammation.
