Job Description Applications are invited for a Research Associate position at the Centre for International Law (CIL), National University of Singapore. This is a two-year contractual appointment associated with CIL’s International Economic Law and Policy (IELP) programme. The objective of this role is to support the IELP programme's activities and to develop the research capabilities and knowledge of early-career scholars by immersing them in a dynamic and supportive research environment where they can enhance their understanding of various aspectes of international economic law and policy. The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include: Supporting the Head of the International Economic Law and Policy programme with research related to the programme’s ongoing projects in international economic law. This includes CIL’s role as an official observer in UNCITRAL Working Group III, ongoing initiatives on international economic law, climate change, and sustainable development, as well as research on the evolution of the international architecture for economic regulation and governance. Assisting in the development and organization of seminars and workshops conducted by CIL, including the Singapore International Arbitration Academy. Conducting research and completing at least one scholarly publication suitable for submission to a recognized academic journal by the conclusion of the appointment. CIL provides its research staff with extensive professional development opportunities through NUS events, seminars, and training programmes. Staff members also have opportunities to participate in regional and international academic engagements, including conferences, workshops, and symposiums. Qualifications An LLM, JD or other relevant degree or equivalent professional experience; A solid foundation in international economic law and/or policy, broadly understood, such as trade, investment, finance, or other areas of international economic regulation; Excellent analytical, research and writing skills; A high degree of self-motivation, along with strong organisational and computer skills; A minimum of two years of professional and/or research experience.
