About this role
This is a Associate Lecturer position in the School of Life Sciences & Chemical Technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering Pre-Employment Training (PET) as well as Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes in the areas of environmental science and sustainability. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: • Design, develop and deliver in-person/online lectures, tutorials, practicals, assessments and mark them for full-time and part-time courses in environmental science and sustainability. • Supervise and facilitate student-industry collaboration projects. • Collaborate with industry on training, applied research and/or consultancy projects to stay relevant in your profession. • Be available to teach at least 1 evening per week and/or on weekends for CET classes. • Contribute to student-related events (such as leading student overseas trips) and outreach activities. • Mentor students in character development and career readiness. • Provide pastoral care for students. • Carry out administrative duties to support academic and school operations. • Candidate should have relevant qualification(s) in the fields of Environmental Engineering/Environmental Science/Civil Engineering/Chemical Engineering. • At least 3 years of relevant teaching or industry experience in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science or related fields. • Expertise in environmental monitoring technologies and data analytics, including experience with sensor systems, Internet of Things (IoT) applications, unmanned aircrafts, unmanned water drones, and environmental data collection and analysis. • Proficiency in microcontroller programming such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi or related languages. • Proficiency in Python programming and data analysis tools. • Competent to plan, develop, teach and support modules related to environmental engineering, environmental science, Internet of Things (IoT), including but not limited to the following modules: o Environmental Analytics & IoT o Environmental Testing o Environmental Microbiology & Biotechnology o Solid & Hazardous Waste Management o Energy and Environmental Management Systems o Engineering Mathematics • Passionate about education and possess strong interest in nurturing, teaching, mentoring and interacting with students. • A team player with strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills. • Self-driven, independent and able to multi-task effectively. Additional qualifications and experiences that are advantageous • Professional qualifications and/or experiences relevant to digitalization, IoT applications, Arduino programming, Python programming and other data analysis tools. • A valid unmanned aircraft pilot license issued by Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. • Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education, Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA), Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP), and/or Diploma in Adult Continuing Education (DACE).
