Designation: Recovery Coach Reports to: Clinical Director, The Winslow Summary of Role: As a Recovery Coach, you will walk alongside clients through their journey of change and healing. You will offer guidance, encouragement, and hope, drawing on both professional understanding and, where appropriate, lived experience. Working closely with the clinical and operations teams, you will help clients build motivation, strengthen recovery skills, and reconnect with what gives their lives meaning. Key Responsibilities: Building Supportive Relationships Establish and maintain a trusting, respectful, and supportive relationship with clients. Provide one-to-one support to help clients explore challenges, identify strengths, and stay engaged in their recovery. Share personal reflections and recovery insights appropriately to inspire hope and demonstrate that recovery is possible. Celebrate clients' progress and milestones while offering encouragement through setbacks. Supporting Recovery Planning Work with the clinical team to assess clients' needs, strengths, and goals, contributing to a personalised recovery plan. Assist with screenings, risk assessments, and detox support as part of the multidisciplinary care process. Help clients translate treatment goals into practical daily actions that promote wellness and accountability. Facilitating Groups and Programme Activities Co-facilitate group sessions, workshops, and activities that focus on relapse prevention, coping strategies, and building life skills. Encourage participation in peer support groups, helping clients connect with recovery communities beyond treatment. Support the smooth running of the daily programme and contribute to a positive, therapeutic environment. Outreach and Aftercare Support When needed, conduct home or hospital visits to provide continuity of support and encouragement. Assist in coordinating referrals and community linkages that strengthen clients' aftercare and social support networks. Crisis Support and Documentation Offer calm, compassionate crisis intervention for clients experiencing emotional distress or relapse triggers. Keep clear, accurate, and confidential records of client interactions, recovery goals, and progress in line with centre policies. Team Collaboration and Growth Work closely with therapists, doctors, nurses, and operations staff to ensure integrated and holistic care. Take part in team meetings, training, and supervision to reflect, learn, and contribute to service improvement. Stay informed about new developments in addiction recovery and continue to grow professionally and personally in this work. Carry out any other duties related to the role as directed by the Clinical Director. Requirements: Able to write and speak fluent English; other languages are a plus Passionate about supporting individuals with addictions and mental health conditions Preferably with personal lived experience of addiction recovery Preferably with some experience in working in mental health environment Strong empathy, communication and active listening skills Volunteer experience and certified training in addiction work is a plus
