Operating as an integral portfolio team member, you will handle the technical evaluation of higher-complexity new and renewal accounts in alignment with corporate underwriting standards and delegated authority limits. The role balances technical portfolio management with structured intermediary engagement to ensure profitable business growth. • Portfolio Underwriting: Evaluating, pricing, and underwriting complex new and renewal Property & Casualty risks while adhering strictly to underwriting guidelines and delegated authority levels. • Business Development: Conducting territory and distribution channel analyses to support enhanced product development, competitive conversions, and market penetration strategies. • Technical Management: Reviewing and enhancing portfolio pricing models, conducting technical portfolio remediation for underperforming segments, and analyzing monthly loss ratios. • Relationship Management: Managing and deepening strategic relationships with brokers, agents, and financial advisors to identify client coverage needs and provide tailored risk solutions. • Compliance and Governance: Ensuring rigorous adherence to operational policies, delegated authority limits, regulatory compliance requirements, and know-your-customer screening practices. • Team Guidance: Training and guiding junior staff members to support professional growth within the organization and conducting peer underwriting audits as required. about the manager/team You will report directly to the Head of the department and work closely with team leaders and technical specialists within the underwriting business unit. Cross-functional collaboration with claims, finance, actuarial, and risk management teams is a key feature of the daily workflow. skills and experience required To be considered for this position, you must meet the following objective criteria: • Education: A Degree or Diploma in Insurance, or a Degree/Diploma in Business or Engineering supplemented with a Commercial General Insurance (CGI) certification, ACII, or ANZIIF accreditation. • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Property & Casualty insurance underwriting, including direct intermediary engagement and technical underwriting. • Technical Knowledge: Comprehension of general insurance operations, risk assessment methodologies, policy wordings, and industry legislation relevant to the Property & Casualty sector. • Systems Proficiency: Competency in utilizing Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, for portfolio reporting and data analysis.
