About this role

ROLE: The ELL Teacher will build foundational systems, policies, and inclusive practices for multilingual learners while delivering a comprehensive English language program. The role is distinguished by its dual emphasis on language development and academic integration, working across grades and subjects to ensure students gain English proficiency alongside continued cognitive growth. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and Implement Curriculum : Design and implement an age-appropriate English language curriculum aligned with school standards and the science of learning. Deliver targeted instruction aligned to internationally recognized frameworks. Differentiate lessons to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing across proficiency levels. Apply research-based strategies, including sheltered instruction and language scaffolding. Use varied, engaging approaches—such as collaborative, hands-on, and inquiry-based learning—to promote engagement and critical thinking. Create a Positive and Inclusive Classroom Environment : Foster a supportive, safe, and inclusive classroom where all students feel valued and respected. Establish clear expectations for behavior, classroom routines, and academic goals, creating a structured and nurturing environment. Promote social-emotional learning, helping students build essential skills such as empathy, collaboration, and self-regulation. Assess Student Progress and Provide Feedback : Regularly assess students’ English proficiency through formal and informal assessments, including tests, quizzes, projects, and observations. Provide constructive, timely, and personalized feedback to students to help them understand their strengths and areas for improvement. Use assessment data to adjust teaching strategies and support individual learning needs. Differentiate Instruction to Meet Student Needs : Tailor lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and backgrounds, ensuring that each student has the opportunity to succeed. Modify assignments, assessments, and classroom activities for students with varying levels of understanding and those with special needs. Provide additional support for students who need extra help and offer enrichment opportunities for advanced learners. Support Social and Emotional Development : Support the development of students' social-emotional skills, including conflict resolution, communication, and self-awareness. Foster positive relationships among students through team-building exercises, class discussions, and cooperative learning activities. Help students set personal goals, track their progress, and celebrate achievements to build confidence and motivation. Collaborate with Other Teachers and Staff : Work closely with other teachers and/or subject-specific teachers to support students' individual needs. Participate in school-wide initiatives and collaborate with other teachers to plan interdisciplinary projects or school events. Attend meetings with school leadership, counselors, and other staff to discuss students’ academic, social, and emotional progress. Communicate with Parents and Caregivers : Regularly update parents on their child's academic progress, behavior, and overall well-being through newsletters, emails, and parent-teacher conferences. Maintain open lines of communication with parents to address concerns, provide updates, and collaborate on strategies to support student learning at home. Provide parents with resources and suggestions to help their children with homework, studying, and personal development. Manage Classroom Behavior and Foster Positive Relationships : Establish clear classroom rules and routines to maintain order and encourage positive behavior. Use positive reinforcement techniques to motivate students and promote a positive learning environment. Address behavioral issues in a constructive manner, using conflict resolution strategies and involving students in discussions about appropriate behavior. Plan and Supervise Field Trips and Extracurricular Activities : Organize and supervise field trips, school events, and extracurricular activities that enhance students' learning experiences and provide real-world connections to classroom content.
