About this role
The Business Development Manager is responsible for expanding the company’s freight forwarding and logistics business by identifying new clients, developing strategic partnerships, and managing key customer relationships. The role ensures revenue growth through effective sales strategies and coordination with operations teams to provide seamless transport solutions. 2. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute business growth strategies for freight transport arrangement services (air, sea, and land freight). Identify new business opportunities and generate leads through market research, networking, and client meetings. Build strong relationships with shippers, consignees, brokers, agents, and logistics partners. Prepare and present sales proposals, quotations, and service agreements to potential clients. Work closely with the operations team to ensure smooth coordination of shipments and timely delivery. Negotiate freight rates, service terms, and contract agreements with customers and vendors. Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to recommend business improvements. Manage key accounts, ensuring high customer satisfaction and retention. Achieve monthly and annual sales targets set by the management. Maintain accurate sales records, reports, and forecasts for management review. 3. Required Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of freight forwarding, logistics operations, and supply chain processes. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Proven ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships. Good understanding of international trade terms (Incoterms), customs clearance, and shipping documentation. Sales-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and handle multiple accounts simultaneously. Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools. 4. Qualifications Diploma/Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Management, or related field. 3–5 years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics sales (preferred). Experience in managing freight transport arrangement services is an added advantage. 5. Additional Preferred Attributes Strong network within logistics/freight industry. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Customer-focused and results-oriented attitude.
