The Company Our client is a global consumer-focused organisation with an international footprint, seeking an experienced trade and customs professional to lead the development and execution of its global trade strategy. The Role This is a highly visible role responsible for driving customs, duties and indirect tax optimisation initiatives across multiple regions, while ensuring compliance with evolving international trade regulations. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing supply chain efficiency, reducing landed costs and supporting expansion into new markets. Working closely with senior stakeholders across Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Legal and Technology teams, you will evaluate trade structures, import models and cross-border logistics flows to identify opportunities for operational and financial improvements. You will also act as a trusted advisor on the trade implications of strategic business initiatives and international growth plans Key Responsibilities • Develop and execute global trade, customs and duty optimisation strategies to support business growth and operational efficiency. • Identify opportunities to improve landed costs through trade programmes, customs planning initiatives and supply chain enhancements. • Assess import structures, product flows and distribution models to optimise trade, tax and operational outcomes. • Provide guidance on trade and customs considerations relating to new markets, business expansions and commercial initiatives. • Oversee product classification frameworks, customs valuation practices and country-of-origin governance across international operations. • Drive the implementation of duty reduction and trade facilitation programmes, including free trade agreement utilisation and other customs incentive schemes. • Ensure appropriate documentation, processes and controls are maintained to support regulatory requirements and preferential duty claims. • Partner with Finance and external advisors on indirect tax matters, including VAT/GST planning and import tax efficiency initiatives. • Monitor regulatory developments and maintain effective customs compliance policies across key jurisdictions. • Lead responses to customs reviews, audits and regulatory enquiries where required. • Manage relationships with customs brokers, freight providers and logistics partners to improve clearance efficiency and minimise disruptions. • Resolve customs-related operational challenges and develop best practices for cross-border movement of goods. • Collaborate with internal technology, product and operational teams to enhance trade systems, automation capabilities and data governance. • Build strong partnerships with external advisors, industry stakeholders and government authorities to support the organisation's global trade agenda.
