Operations Research Analyst – Job Description (Travel Industry) Job Title: Operations Research Analyst Industry: Travel & Tourism / Travel Agency Job Summary: The Operations Research Analyst is responsible for analyzing operational data and business processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize travel services. The role supports management by using data analysis, forecasting, and mathematical models to enhance airline ticketing, tour operations, customer service, and overall business performance. Key Responsibilities: Analyze travel booking data, customer trends, and operational performance. Develop forecasting models for travel demand, ticket sales, and seasonal trends. Optimize travel booking processes to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs. Evaluate airline fares, hotel rates, and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities. Prepare reports and dashboards to support business decisions. Conduct research on market trends, competitor pricing, and customer preferences. Identify operational bottlenecks and recommend process improvements. Support pricing strategies for airline tickets, holiday packages, and travel services. Work closely with sales, ticketing, finance, and management teams to improve productivity. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend corrective actions. Assist in resource planning, workforce scheduling, and service optimization. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Experience in the travel, tourism, or aviation industry is an advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, SQL, Power BI/Tableau, or other data analysis tools. Knowledge of statistical analysis and forecasting techniques. Good communication and report-writing skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
