About this role

The Manager of Donor Engagement is responsible for growing and managing donor relationships across multiple segments to strengthen long-term support for the Society. Working closely with the Senior Manager, the role leads a team to deliver meaningful supporter experiences, identify new opportunities for growth and ensure strong portfolio performance while maintaining effective governance and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities 1. Relationship Management and Resource Development Develop and manage a portfolio of donors across multiple segments, building trusted relationships that strengthen long-term engagement and financial support. Cultivate existing supporters while proactively identifying and securing new donors to expand the Society's supporter community. Develop engagement strategies that encourage donor retention, increased giving, advocacy and long-term partnerships. Represent the Society confidently during donor meetings, networking opportunities and engagement activities. 2. Portfolio Growth and Performance Lead the planning and execution of donor engagement strategies that strengthen acquisition, retention and portfolio growth. Monitor portfolio performance and identify opportunities to deepen relationships through renewals, multi-year giving, referrals and strategic collaborations. Analyse donor behaviour, giving trends and engagement data to improve supporter experience and long-term value. Support fundraising campaigns, donor events and engagement initiatives that contribute to organisational fundraising goals. 3. Team Leadership and Capability Development Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and guidance to team members to strengthen relationship management capability and performance. Conduct regular portfolio reviews and support staff in achieving agreed engagement and fundraising objectives. Foster a collaborative, proactive and supporter-centred team culture that encourages continuous learning and innovation. Lead by example through active donor engagement and professional relationship management. 4. Governance and Operational Excellence Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of supporter records, engagement activities and portfolio reporting. Ensure due diligence, safeguarding, compliance and governance requirements are consistently applied across supporter engagement activities. Prepare reports, forecasts and management information to support planning, performance monitoring and strategic decision-making. Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, systems and supporter engagement practices. Qualifications and Experience Postgraduate qualifications preferred. At least 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, donor engagement or stakeholder relations, preferably in the social service or non-profit sector. Demonstrated experience supervising teams and managing stakeholder relationships. Experience managing donor portfolios, corporate partnerships or community engagement initiatives. Experience in governance, compliance and fundraising regulations will be advantageous. Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
