About this role

The Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) is seeking a motivated and capable individual to join our high performance programme as a Sports Assistant for Boccia and Pathway & Performance Executive / Assistant Manager. ABOUT THE ROLE This is a dual-function position: 50% of the role is dedicated to serving as a trained Sports Assistant (ramp operator and on-court assistant) for SDSC’s Boccia athletes, and 50% is dedicated to providing administrative and operational support to the Pathway and Performance team. This is a pilot initiative. SDSC will review the structure, workload balance, and effectiveness of the dual-function model on an ongoing basis, with the possibility of expanding the model to other sports or adjusting the role scope based on programme needs and the individual’s development. The Sports Assistant (Boccia) and Pathway & Performance Executive / Assistant Manager contributes to the Boccia high performance programme in two equally important ways. As a Sports Assistant, the individual is trained to serve as the on-court ramp operator and/or sports assistant for assigned SDSC Boccia athletes, developing the precision, communication, and technical understanding needed to perform effectively at domestic and international competitions. As a Pathway & Performance Executive / Assistant Manager, the individual provides administrative and operational support to the wider Pathway and Performance team, contributing to the smooth running of the programme from athlete records and competition logistics to programme documentation and event coordination. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Part A —Sports Assistant Function (50%): Training and Technical Development: • Undergo structured training under the direction of the Technical Director (Boccia) and Head/National Coaches to develop the technical skills required to serve as a Ramp Operator (BC3) and/or Sports Assistant (BC1) at the highest level of competition. • Attend all assigned Boccia national squad training sessions, learning to operate the throwing ramp precisely in accordance with each assigned athlete’s instructions and competition strategy. • Develop deep familiarity with the equipment specifications, ramp mechanics, and assistive device requirements of each assigned athlete, including ramp calibration, ball positioning, and physical positioning during play. • Study and maintain a thorough working knowledge of World Boccia Sports Assistant and Ramp Operator rules, including the prohibition on viewing the playing area during an End, the restrictions on physical contact with the athlete during play, and all conduct regulations applicable to sports assistants at World Boccia-sanctioned competitions. • Participate in coaching development sessions, workshops, and technical education activities facilitated by the Technical Director, building knowledge of Boccia tactics, athlete communication, and competition preparation. Competition and Programme Support: • Serve as the designated Ramp Operator and/or Sports Assistant for assigned SDSC Boccia athletes at all domestic and international competitions and training camps as directed, including national championships, World Boccia-sanctioned events, ASEAN Para Games, Asian Para Games, and Paralympic Games. • Maintain the exclusive one-to-one athlete assignment required under World Boccia rules: serve as the same Ramp Operator for the assigned athlete throughout each competition, and be available as a consistent training partner throughout the quadrennial programme cycle. • Assist in the preparation, transport, inspection, and maintenance of Boccia equipment (ramps, ball sets,assistive devices) for training sessions and competitions, ensuring all equipment meets World Boccia standards and is competition-ready. • Liaise proactively with the assigned athlete(s) outside of formal training sessions to develop the communication, trust, and on-court understanding that underpins effective BC3 and BC1 competition performance. • Support the High Performance Manager and High Performance Executive in the logistical coordination of sports assistant accreditation, travel bookings, equipment transport, and competition registration. World Boccia Compliance and Registration: • Maintain World Boccia registration and accreditation as a Sports Assistant / Ramp Operator, in compliance with World Boccia rules and the World Boccia Policy on the Nationality of Competitors. • Comply with all applicable WADA anti-doping regulations, whereabout…
