About this role

Job Summary The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in preparing and coaching the National Men’s Team and Intermediate Squad for Major Games, Major Championships, ITTF competitions, and other key events. The role focuses on high‑performance training, player development, and the integration of sports science to deliver consistent international results Key Responsibilities Coaching & Performance Assist the Head Coach in overseeing daily training, technical/tactical development, and match preparation for the National Men’s Team and Intermediate Squad. Co‑design and implement periodised training and competition plans aligned with the national high‑performance calendar. Take direct responsibility for the performance progress of assigned players, including individual development plans and performance targets. Lead or co‑lead on‑court coaching at domestic and international competitions as delegated by the Head Coach. Sports Science & Athlete Support Work closely with the Head Coach and Sport Sciences Institute (SSI) to integrate strength & conditioning, physiology, psychology, nutrition, and recovery into training programmes. Monitor training load, wellness, and key performance indicators to inform coaching decisions and reduce injury risk. Player Development & Pathway Identify and develop intermediate squad players for progression into the National Team, ensuring clear technical, tactical, physical, and mental benchmarks. Support talent identification activities and liaison with youth coaches to ensure alignment of development philosophy across age groups. Discipline & Culture Uphold and enforce team standards for discipline, attendance, professionalism, and conduct on and off the table. Contribute to a positive, high‑performance team culture that emphasises accountability, resilience, and continuous improvement. Administration & Collaboration Assist in conducting performance reviews for the Men’s Team and Intermediate Squad, including reporting to management and stakeholders. Collaborate with the Technical Director to design and deliver coaching workshops and clinics for youth and club coaches. Maintain accurate training logs, competition reports, and player records. Qualifications and Experience Minimum 4 years of relevant coaching experience, including programme planning, physical preparation, and exposure to sports psychology and sports science at National Youth Team or National Team level. Proven track record of developing players who achieve results at national and/or international competitions. Club coaches with strong, documented results will also be considered. Recognised table tennis coaching certification (e.g., SG‑Coach or equivalent)is required. A degree or diploma in Coaching, Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field is advantageous. Experience working in a high‑performance environment and familiarity with ITTF and WTT competition formats is preferred. Knowledge and Skills Mandarin: Good command of Mandarin (verbal and written) is required to liaise with Mandarin‑speaking players, coaches, and partners. English: Basic to working proficiency in English is an advantage for internal communication and documentation. Strong understanding of modern table tennis techniques, tactics, and training methodologies. Ability to use data and video analysis to support technical and tactical development. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills; able to motivate and manage elite athletes. Personal Attributes High personal standards of integrity, professionalism, and work ethic. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Team‑oriented mindset with the ability to work closely with the Head Coach, support staff, and external partners. Passion for developing Singaporean table tennis talent and contributing to national success. Position Type Full-time (2-Year Renewable Contract) Salary will commensurate with qualification and experience.
