Mechanical Engineer

About the role: SMITECH is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support site execution, technical coordination and project delivery for a major M&E construction and infrastructure project in Singapore. This role will work closely with the M&E Manager, project team, consultants, subcontractors, BIM/QS/QAQC/WSH teams and client representatives to coordinate mechanical building services works, resolve technical issues and ensure timely execution on site. This project role is to be based on site on a 5.5-day work week. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and supervise mechanical works including ACMV, mechanical ventilation, plumbing & sanitary, fire protection, pumps, pipework, plant equipment and related M&E systems. Review construction drawings, shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, ITPs, MSRA and technical documentation. Ensure mechanical installations comply with approved drawings, project specifications, statutory requirements, quality standards and safety requirements. Coordinate closely with consultants, subcontractors, C&S, architectural, electrical and BIM teams to resolve design clashes, site constraints and interface issues. Prepare and follow up on RFIs, technical clarifications, site instructions, inspection requests and progress updates. Monitor site progress, manpower deployment, material delivery and subcontractor work performance. Conduct site inspections to ensure workmanship, installation quality and construction sequence meet project requirements. Support testing and commissioning, authority/client inspections, handover documentation and close-out of outstanding defects. Assist the project team in identifying technical risks, construction issues and practical solutions to keep works moving. Maintain proper project records, drawings, correspondence, inspection reports and technical submissions.
