Purpose Contributes to the overall success of the GFI Sales franchise in Asia Pacific, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The incumbent in the role has primary responsibility to support the distribution efforts of our core products in Asia, with a focus on cash fixed income products, and a responsibility to assist in building additional transactional flow in the region, which includes distribution of Scotiabank’s originated transactions in the primary market and in secondary market debt trading, repo financing, structured products, and additional cross-sell opportunities. This role will be based in Singapore. Accountabilities Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment Deals in investments and execution orders on behalf of clients and is responsible for selling investments to wholesale clients. Understands the risk profile of transactions and puts processes in place to manage those risks. Provides innovative ideas, timely market information, pricing and exceptional service to clients. Fosters new and existing client relationships in addition to cross-selling existing relationships across other areas and product groups. Work closely with trading desks to generate, market and execute trade ideas/focus positions with clients as well as partnering with internal sales colleagues. Support in developing long-term relationships with clients (asset Managers, financial institutions, insurance companies, corporates, etc.) to drive fixed income flow sales from the region by leveraging the group’s strengths in research, sales, and trading globally. Support the overall sales strategy for product development within the region. Expected to make contributions and provide marketing ideas to the various product groups to help maximize client opportunities. Responsible for activities of client due diligence (Know Your Client) to identify client information by ensuring relevant information is collected in order to do financial business with the client. Furthermore, expected to be responsible for ensuring the correct client information is set up in the relevant systems. Contribute to regular team meetings on economic/financial news and share business development ideas to maximize client opportunities and enable growth of client base. Primary Manager MD, Head of FICC, APAC Dimensions • North Asia the primary coverage point, with a focus on Korea • Distribution of primary and secondary fixed income securities • Support the sales team in transaction dealings with clients, making daily comments, and producing relevant market commentaries • Support the regional booking process and provide additional trade checks • Candidate will support overall Asian client coverage, requiring close integration with Trading teams in Singapore, Europe, and North & South America, as well as other business units globally • The incumbent will be a motivated, self-starter, with a willingness to work independently and under pressure • Contribute to the overall P&L of GFI Education / Experience / Other Information • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Commerce/Statistics/Economics, or other relevant discipline, with at least 5-6 years’ experience in a sales-related role • Strong and proficient communication and collaboration skills required, to maintain regular interaction with clients and team members • Strong teamwork skills including a willingness to undertake all aspects of the position and ability to work with numerous teams within the institution from various product areas • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Results oriented and a bold personality to yield high returns and high performance Working Conditions • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
