The Role The Teaching Assistant (TA) plays a vital role in supporting the class or specialist teacher to enhance students' learning experiences and outcomes. Responsibilities include assisting with the delivery of the curriculum, monitoring pupil progress, and providing targeted support, particularly in core subjects such as Maths and English. The TA works closely with teachers to create an engaging and effective learning environment, ensuring that each student receives the attention they need to succeed. Key Responsibilities To Students: Work with groups of students alongside and under the direction of the classroom teacher. Conduct guided reading sessions with learning objectives set by the teacher. Lead group activities during rotations/stations to support the main learning objectives across various curriculum areas. Oversee educational games or free play in Early Years and Primary settings. Provide assistance to individual students with additional needs, either within main activities or by working on specific IEP targets. Assist students in developing individual and collaborative study skills, including rephrasing instructions, reinterpretation, and applying behaviour management strategies. Accompany and supervise students as they transition between class and specialist lessons. To Teachers: Prepare materials and activities for lessons, including laminating, photocopying, and setting up games, in line with lesson plans and learning objectives. Assist with organising …
