REPORTS TO: Event Director and Managing Director LOCATION: Singapore THE ROLE UPA Asia (UPAA) is looking for ambitious and motivated teammates to be pioneers in driving the growth of Pickleball in Asia. The MLP Asia League Manager is the dedicated owner of Major League Pickleball delivery in Asia, a team-based league product that is structurally distinct from the PPA Tour Asia and requires its own competition rules, roster mechanics, team relationships and season rhythm. This is a hands-on role. The successful candidate will build and run the operating machinery of MLP in Asia: the season model, the draft and roster processes, team servicing, and the event-by-event delivery of the league in partnership with UPAA’s Events, Marketing, Commercial and Broadcast functions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Season Architecture & Planning • Season Modelling: Build and improve the MLP Asia season model including team count, event count, host markets, calendar placement, competition format and playoff structure, with strategic considerations of each option. Recommend the preferred model to the EventDirector and Managing Director for approval. • Calendar Integration: Work with the EventDirector to place the MLP Asia season within the wider UPAA regional calendar and the global MLP calendar, managing conflicts around player availability, venue access and market saturation. • Format Design: Adapt global MLP competition formats for Asian markets where appropriate, in alignment with global MLP standards, and document the rationale and rule implications of any variation. • Scenario Planning: Model the operational consequences of expansion, contraction or calendar change. 2. Competition & Roster Operations • Draft & Roster Management: Own the operational running of the MLP Asia draft, roster construction, player movement and eligibility processes in line with league rules and global MLP standards. • Player Coordination: Work with Player Relations and Legal on player agreements, availability and the interaction between MLPAsia commitments and PPA Asia Tour obligations. • Competition Integrity: Ensure consistent application of formats, officiating standards, scoring and dispute procedures across all MLP Asia events. Escalate disciplinary and rule-interpretation matters. • Rules & League Administration: Maintain theMLP Asia manuals and keep it current with global MLP rule changes. 3. Team Operations & Servicing • Operational Point of Contact: Serve as the operational point of contact for MLP Asia team managers, answering competition, roster, scheduling and logistics queries, and ensuring teams have the information they need to compete. • Team Logistics: Coordinate team travel, accreditation, practice allocation, uniforms and on-site requirements with theEvents team ahead of and during each event. • Information Flow: Run the operational communication with teams across the season including schedules, rule updates, deadlines, draft and roster notifications, and maintain the team-facing operations calendar and handbook. • Compliance Tracking: Track team compliance with competition and operational obligations. • Issue Resolution: Resolve day-to-day operational issues raised by teams. Escalate commercial, contractual and ownership matters to the Directors as appropriate. 4. Event Delivery • On-Site Ownership: Act as the MLP competition lead on site, owning the delivery of the league product within events run by the UPAA events team and local host partners. • Fan Product Input: Provide the MarketingDirector with the team narratives, rivalries and season storylines that make the league format compelling. • Continuous Improvement: Identify operational gaps and develop processes to improve the MLP Asia team and player experience. • Budget Discipline: Manage the MLP Asia delivery budget lines assigned to this role. 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Working Across Functions: Work closely withEvents, Marketing, Commercial, Broadcast, Player Relations and Finance to ensure MLP Asia is properly resourced and delivered as an integrated part ofUPAA. • Global Alignment: Maintain a close working relationship with US-based MLP counterparts to ensure product and competition consistency. • Reporting: Report on MLP Asia operational and competition performance to the Event Director and Managing Director.
