About this role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will drive both the enhancement of our commercial robotic system and the development of next-generation applications. Managing the full product lifecycle - from concept and prototyping to verification and production, this role demands technical ownership and cross-functional collaboration. You must be able to execute clearly defined design objectives independently with minimal guidance. Key Responsibilities Product Evolution & New Design: Lead mechanical design efforts for the enhancement of our existing robotic system, as well as the conceptualization and development of new products and applications. End-to-End Development: Drive the full R&D lifecycle: brainstorming, proof-of-concept prototyping, detailed 3D modelling, engineering drawings, verification testing, and production release. Advanced Mechanisms & Kinematics: Design complex moving parts, linkages, and structural components, ensuring precise kinematics and structural integrity required for medical-grade robotics. Electro-Mechanical Integration: Manage basic electrical integration within mechanical architectures, including cable routing, wiring loom design, and considerations for safety, cable management, and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). Simulation & Prototyping: Utilize finite element method (FEM) tools to perform structural, thermal, or modal analyses. Leverage in-house 3D printing and rapid prototyping tools to iterate designs quickly. Design for Excellence (DFX): Design components with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and regulatory compliance (e.g., IEC 60601) in mind. Documentation: Maintain rigorous engineering documentation, including design history files (DHF), bill of materials (BOM), and verification protocols in alignment with medical device quality management systems (ISO 13485). Requirements & Qualifications Technical Skills & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related discipline. Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design (experience in medical devices, robotics, or high-precision automation is highly preferred). CAD expertise: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling, complex assemblies, and 2D drafting. Proven experience with FEM analysis tools (e.g., ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation) for structural and mechanical validation. Hands-on experience with 3D printing (FDM/SLA), workshop tools, and physical prototyping. Mechatronics knowledge: Basic understanding of electrical routing, shielding, and structural considerations for EMC and medical safety standards. Soft Skills & Work Style: Autonomy: A self-starter who thrives in a startup environment; able to derive clear design objectives from customer requests or procedure requirements and process it to a completed device with minimal supervision. Team Player: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively within a R&D team. Problem Solver: A practical, analytical mindset with a strong attention to detail and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges. What We Offer Opportunity to work on commercialized, life-changing medical robotics. Dynamic, collaborative, and flat startup culture where your contributions have a direct impact. Convenient working location in Singapore’s vibrant MedTech/R&D hub.
