System Specialist (T1 BHS, Changi Airport) Vanderlande provides life-cycle services for material handling systems, with Maintenance Services playing a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations. The Baggage Handling System (BHS) at Changi Airport Terminal 1 (T1) is a critical part of the airport’s infrastructure, requiring high availability and reliability. As a System Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the system on-site, ensuring operational continuity and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Provide Level 2 technical support for the maintenance team at T1 BHS, Changi Airport (mechanical, electrical, and low-level control systems – PLC, FSC). Work as part of the on-site maintenance team that operates in a 24x7 environment . Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure high system reliability. Act as the primary customer contact, providing clear communication and ownership, and advising on actions to minimize downtime. Provide training and guidance to maintenance and operational staff, and be available for on-call duty for critical system failures outside regular working hours. Collaborate with the hotline team and escalate to Level 3 support when required. Investigate incidents, perform troubleshooting , and provide detailed reports on root causes and solutions . Assist in system improvements and modifications to enhance performance. Support projects initiated by the Service department as a Project Engineer where required. Lead project execution, onsite configuration, commissioning, and testing, monitoring quality of controls deliverables, and driving continuous improvement actions, including night work as required. Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field. Minimum 5 years’ experience in material handling systems (baggage handling, warehouse, or parcel systems) with exposure to low-level control systems (PLC, FSC, SCADA) . Experience with Siemens control systems (PLC & SCADA). Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues efficiently. Familiarity with CMMS (e.g., IBM Maximo or equivalent) for maintenance tracking. Ability to work independently and within a team in a high-paced airport environment. Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written). Assertive team player and proactive. Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational environment and be on-call as needed.
