About this role

⇒ Position Objective Our client, a fast-growing digital bank, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their data engineering team. The role will focus on building automation frameworks for data source onboarding and integration, reducing manual effort and enabling the team to scale with the business. The position will report to the Head of Data Engineering, based across Singapore and Indonesia. ⇒ Main Responsibilities Design and build a reusable, templated framework for onboarding new data sources and integrations, reducing the time and engineering effort required for each new source. Develop and maintain data ingestion pipelines from internal databases, third-party APIs, and file-based sources (SFTP, flat files) into the Snowflake data warehouse. Optimise Snowflake workloads for cost efficiency and performance as transaction volumes and customer base grow rapidly. Support data quality improvement initiatives, including building validation checks, monitoring, and alerting on data pipeline health. Build and maintain data integrations to downstream systems including dashboards, reconciliation tools, reporting platforms, and ML model serving infrastructure. Collaborate with data science and analytics teams to support ML model deployment and production data needs. Work within a small, fast-moving team across Singapore and Indonesia, contributing to engineering standards and best practices in a regulated banking environment. ⇒ Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. At least 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with a focus on building and scaling data pipelines in production environments. Strong Snowflake experience, including data modelling, query optimisation, and cost management. Not just usage, but understanding how things work under the surface. Proficiency in Python and SQL. Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect. Proven experience building reusable ingestion or integration frameworks, not just one-off pipelines. Track record of generalising repeatable patterns. Experience with API-based and file-based data ingestion from third-party sources (REST APIs, SFTP, flat files). Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues and think creatively about how to stitch things together when standard approaches fail. Experience in a regulated environment (banking, insurance, fintech) is a strong advantage. Familiarity with digital banking or Southeast Asian fintech ecosystem is a plus. Self-motivated, comfortable working in a small team at pace, and able to operate independently across Singapore and Indonesia.
