If you are unsure what a career actually involves, sending more applications may not answer the question. Advisory offers a structured conversation with a working professional. ApplyLah helps with the different task of finding suitable jobs and progressing applications. Choose according to the decision you need to make next.

TL;DR

Advisory is an adjacent option for eligible students seeking career understanding through human mentorship. ApplyLah serves job seekers across career stages who need a job-search and application workflow. A mentor is not an application executor, and an application tool is not a personal mentor.

What is Advisory?

The Advisory Mentorship Programme pairs students with working professionals one to one. Its published structure runs for four months with an hour of mentoring each month.

This is a human relationship with a defined learning purpose. It should be compared on access, preparation and the kinds of questions it can help you investigate, rather than scored as an incomplete auto-apply product. (Advisory Mentorship Programme; Advisory mentorship FAQ)

What is ApplyLah?

ApplyLah is built for job seekers across career stages, focused on Singapore and Asia. Its large job database connects discovery and matching with application preparation.

ApplyLah 2.0 finds and ranks roles, tailors materials from your background and supports auto-applying to suitable jobs you approve. Support depends on the employer system, required information and the access enabled for your account. Application records and employer confirmations are tracked separately.

The resume review is public. The broader 2.0 workflow has a waitlist and separate private beta invitations; joining the waitlist does not unlock every feature immediately. Public 2.0 pricing and allowances have not been announced.

Comparison

Check the programme before planning around it

Advisory’s FAQ describes an August-to-November programme and an application process involving mentor preferences and reasons for wanting to learn from them. Do not infer that an application button means a new cohort is open today. The reviewed programme pages do not establish a current fee, so this article does not label access free or attach a price.

The FAQ also gives Singapore-connection conditions for students based overseas, including citizenship, permanent residence or a significant connection to Singapore. Check your circumstances and the current cohort directly with the organiser. ApplyLah has a different access question: its public resume review can be used separately, while 2.0 is waitlisted with an invited private beta. Neither route should be treated as guaranteed immediate access to the other’s service. (Advisory Mentorship Programme; Advisory mentorship FAQ; ApplyLah 2.0)

Bring questions that need lived context

Mentorship is particularly useful for questions that a vacancy description leaves unanswered. What does a typical week involve? Which parts of the work surprise newcomers? What distinguishes the job from an adjacent role? Prepare a short account of what you have already explored so the conversation can go beyond a general introduction.

A mentor’s experience is valuable context, but it is still one perspective. Ask for concrete examples and compare them with other practitioners and current vacancies. If the conversation changes your mind about an industry, that can be a useful result. The objective is a better-informed next step, rather than persuading yourself to follow the mentor’s exact career path. (Advisory Mentorship Programme; Advisory mentorship FAQ)

Keep guidance separate from recruitment

Advisory explicitly says mentors are not obliged to provide internships or employment. Approach the relationship as a learning commitment. A thoughtful question about building evidence for a role is more appropriate than treating the first meeting as a referral request or expecting the mentor to submit applications for you.

Agree what you will prepare between conversations. A useful action might be analysing three job descriptions, talking to another practitioner or trying a small relevant project. Return with what you learned and the next uncertainty. ApplyLah addresses a later execution task: selecting real vacancies, tailoring supported materials and progressing approved applications. It does not establish a mentor relationship or replace the judgement developed through those conversations. (Advisory mentorship FAQ; ApplyLah 2.0)

Convert a conversation into a job-search brief

After a useful discussion, write a brief with target responsibilities, unsuitable working conditions, evidence you can show and open questions to investigate. For example, “interested in sustainability” is too broad for an application. “Interested in coordinating supplier data and reporting, with evidence from a research project” gives you a clearer basis for comparing jobs.

That brief can guide a search through ApplyLah’s large database and ranking workflow when access is available. Check each role against the brief, review tailored materials and approve only suitable supported applications. Keep the learning record separate from the submission record: feedback from a mentor may improve your reasoning, but the employer’s confirmation is what establishes whether the application reached its destination. Illustrative Singapore scenario: a student exploring sustainability work

A fictional student likes sustainability but is unsure whether consulting, reporting or operations fits their interests.

This is an illustrative decision exercise, not a live search, a product test or an application result.

  1. Prepare for a mentor Read role descriptions and bring questions about daily work, evidence expected from newcomers and differences between the three paths.
  2. Test what you learned Use the discussion to choose a small research task and compare it with real job requirements. Do not assume the mentor will offer an internship.
  3. Apply when the target is clearer Search suitable openings and tailor a truthful application. ApplyLah may support that workflow with beta access; the mentorship itself remains a learning relationship.

Sources & method

Job-count methodology, 6 November 2026: ApplyLah reports an average of 65k+ jobs per month, confirmed by its team on 6 November 2026. An average across months is different from one specific window: a separate read-only snapshot counted 41,471 Singapore-eligible postings from 7 October, 09:52 SGT to 6 November 2026, 09:52 SGT, excluding suppressed and known-dead records. That snapshot does not independently establish the monthly average or unique live-vacancy count. Competitor figures retain their published geography and definition: monthly averages, 30-day postings and current board totals are distinct measures.

Prepared by ApplyLah on 5 November 2026. Reviewed public programme and eligibility information. No enrolment or mentoring session was tested. Current cohort availability and any applicable conditions should be checked with Advisory.
