Legal Counsel (Maritime Law) - In House

Our client is an established international organization within the maritime industry. They are seeking a Legal Counsel to join their in-house legal team and provide legal support across commercial, operational, regulatory, and dispute-related matters within the business. Responsibilities Provide legal advice and support for cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, and strategic investment transactions. Partner closely with business stakeholders on transaction structuring, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies, while offering constructive challenge on the commercial viability of projects. Coordinate legal and compliance due diligence processes in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external counsel. Support post-acquisition integration activities, corporate secretarial matters, corporate advisory work, and regulatory filings, including competition law compliance. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal and commercial agreements. Assist with compliance-related matters, including advisory work, training initiatives, third-party due diligence, sanctions screening, and internal investigations. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a recognised institution, preferably with admission to practice law. Minimum 2 years of experience in private practice or an in-house legal function, with exposure to corporate law, M&A, compliance, or related areas. Strong ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. .
