Assistant Manager/Dy. Manager/ Manager – Energy Storage System/ESS (Engineering) Job Description Cleantech Solar is seeking an experienced Energy Storage System (ESS) Engineer to lead technical delivery for standalone ESS projects and hybrid renewable projects that include storage components. This role involves full-lifecycle engineering support — from feasibility analysis and system design to project execution, commissioning and performance optimisation. The incumbent will work closely with internal teams, clients, OEMs, EPC partners and regulatory authorities to ensure high quality technical outcomes. The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: Feasibility & Technical Assessment Performing feasibility studies for BESS projects, including sizing, application assessment (grid support, peak shaving, renewable integration, ancillary services), and technoeconomic evaluation Assessing grid interconnection requirements, regulatory considerations, and energy market participation models ESS Design & Engineering Developing conceptual and detailed engineering designs including system architecture, SLDs and GA layouts Performing component sizing and specification for batteries, PCS/inverters, BMS, EMS, transformers, LV/MV equipment and auxiliaries Reviewing OEM/EPC engineering documentation for technical accuracy and compliance Supporting preparation of electrical studies such as load flow, short-circuit analysis, fault studies and protection coordination Technical Modelling & Analysis Conducting performance simulations for standalone and hybrid renewable + storage systems Performing battery degradation analysis, energy dispatch modelling and lifecycle assessments Supporting preparation of technoeconomic evaluations for decision-making Project Development & Engineering Support Assisting in preparing RFPs, technical bid evaluations and vendor/OEM selection Participating in design reviews, FAT/SAT procedure evaluations and commissioning plans Offering engineering risk assessments and proposing mitigation strategies Project Execution Support Supporting vendor/OEM assessments and technical bid reviews Reviewing FAT, SAT and commissioning documentation to ensure compliance and readiness Providing onsite or remote technical support during installation, integration, testing and commissioning Documentation & Reporting Preparing technical reports, engineering design notes and calculation files Maintaining engineering records aligned with international standards and local grid regulations Preparing and delivering engineering documentation for internal teams and clients Performance Monitoring & Optimisation Conducting degradation assessments, performance analysis and lifecycle cost studies Analysing operational data from installed systems to optimise performance, availability, efficiency and safety Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or Renewable Energy 5–8 years of experience in BESS, hybrid renewable systems or power system engineering Expertise in battery technologies (Liion, LFP, NMC, emerging chemistries) PCS/inverters, control systems and grid codes Safety standards and certifications related to BESS Hands-on experience with ETAP, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, PVSyst, Python/Excel modelling Strong understanding of solar PV systems, inverters, BoS components, and system integration principles Location Job location for the above position will be at Hyderabad/ Mumbai/ Pune with need-based travel to project sites Contact Information Please send your CV along with a cover letter indicating your earliest start date and salary expectations to careers@cleantechsolar.com with “Assistant Manager/Dy.
