Job Description We are seeking an experienced Software Test Engineer to join our Quality Assurance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality software through comprehensive functional, system, regression, and automation testing. This role initially focuses on independent functional testing of mission-critical on-premise systems operating within secure environments before progressively driving enterprise test automation initiatives that support a cloud-first technology strategy. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about software quality, with experience in both manual and automated testing. Key Responsibilities Functional Testing Design, develop, and execute functional, integration, system, and regression test cases based on business and technical requirements. Review requirements and specifications to produce comprehensive, traceable test scenarios and test cases. Collaborate closely with business users, developers, business analysts, and project stakeholders to clarify requirements, acceptance criteria, and testing scope. Prepare, maintain, and manage test data while addressing testing environment constraints. Capture complete test evidence and documentation in accordance with governance, audit, and compliance requirements. Log, prioritise, track, and verify software defects using defect management tools. Analyse test results, identify root causes, and work with development teams to resolve issues. Prepare test execution reports, quality metrics, and test summary reports for stakeholders and management. Develop and maintain reusable regression test suites to support future automation initiatives. Automation Testing Design, develop, and maintain reusable automated test scripts using enterprise automation tools such as Tosca, Selenium, or Playwright. Build scalable and maintainable automation frameworks for web and enterprise applications. Support the transition from local automation execution to cloud-based automation platforms. Monitor and report automation coverage, execution results, stability, and quality metrics. Establish automation testing standards, reusable libraries, and best practices. Maintain comprehensive documentation for automation scripts, frameworks, and execution outcomes. Support continuous improvement of testing processes and automation capabilities. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years of software testing experience with strong expertise in functional and regression testing. Experience designing comprehensive test cases from functional and technical requirements. Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and quality assurance methodologies. Hands-on experience with automated testing tools such as Tosca, Selenium, Playwright, or similar enterprise automation platforms. Experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or equivalent. Working knowledge of SQL for test data preparation and database validation. Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#. Experience using defect management and project tracking tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps. Strong documentation skills with experience producing test plans, test cases, execution reports, and evidence for audit and compliance purposes. Ability to work effectively within secure, regulated, or restricted IT environments. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams. Candidates may be required to complete a technical assessment during the selection process. Preferred Qualifications Professional testing certifications such as ISTQB Foundation , ISTQB Test Automation Engineer , Tricentis Tosca Certification , or equivalent. Experience implementing automated testing within CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms. Knowledge of performance testing concepts and tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner. Experience using version control systems such as Git. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or DevOps methodologies. Experience delivering IT projects within government agencies, public sector organisations, financial institutions, or other regulated industries.
