The Warehouse Assistant (Cold Room / Frozen –18°C) is responsible for the safe handling, storage, picking, and dispatch of frozen goods within a temperature-controlled warehouse environment. This role requires working in sub-zero conditions while ensuring product integrity, inventory accuracy, food safety compliance, and strict adherence to workplace health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities • Receive, inspect, and store frozen goods in designated –18°C freezer areas in accordance with FIFO/FEFO practices. • Pick, pack, and prepare frozen products accurately for delivery, ensuring minimal temperature exposure. • Load and unload frozen goods using manual handling or material handling equipment where applicable. • Conduct regular stock counts, cycle counts, and assist with inventory reconciliation. • Monitor and record freezer temperatures to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards. • Identify and report damaged goods, temperature deviations, or equipment malfunctions immediately. • Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation of freezer, staging, and warehouse areas. • Ensure correct labelling of products, including batch numbers and expiry dates. • Strictly comply with workplace safety, food hygiene, and cold room operating procedures. • Wear and maintain required PPE including thermal wear, gloves, and safety footwear. • Support ad-hoc warehouse and operational duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Management. Working Conditions • Required to work in a frozen environment at –18°C for scheduled durations. • Work rotation and rest breaks will be implemented in accordance with company safety procedures and workplace health guidelines to reduce cold stress. • Employees will be rotated between frozen and ambient work areas where operationally feasible. • Mandatory PPE will be provided by the Company and must be worn at all times when working in frozen zones. • Employees are required to promptly report any signs of cold stress, fatigue, or safety concerns to their Supervisor. Job requirements • Prior experience in frozen warehouse or cold room operations is preferred. • Physically fit and able to lift, carry, and move heavy cartons and pallets. • Comfortable working in sub-zero temperatures and comply with safety protocols. • Basic knowledge understanding of warehouse operations and inventory handling (training will be provided) • Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards is an advantage. • Able to follow instructions accurately and work independently or as part of a team. • Willing to work overtime and Saturday when required.
