Statistician (Data Engineer) (Household, Income and Population)

The Statistician (Data Engineer) is responsible for the development of Household Register, will lead the end-to-end lifecycle of demographic and household data that informs policy decisions and public understanding. You will play a pivotal role across data collection, integration and analysis. You will design and implement efficient data processing strategies, assess data integrity, establish and maintain statistical quality standards, identify trends and communicates insights to a wide range of stakeholders. You will also be responsible for architecting the transition of our existing data workflows into a modern cloud environment, from designing scalable cloud-based pipelines to driving the adoption of best practices in data engineering while ensuring that our statistical outputs remain robust and timely. ∙ Collaborate with source agencies to acquire data and identify opportunities for enhanced analytical capabilities ∙ Perform methodological reviews on data quality and develop new indicators to meet evolving needs of the government and public ∙ Lead the technical development and continuous improvement of the Household Register ∙ Design, build, and optimise scalable cloud ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate and harmonise diverse data sources ∙ Develop high-performance, scalable Python and SQL code for complex data processing, statistical analysis, and quality monitoring ∙ Drive operational efficiency by implementing CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and timely deployment of statistics ∙ Possess knowledge/experience in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other related disciplines ∙ Strong programming skills in Python ∙ Experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), such as database design, query optimization, data modelling, and/or ingestion pipelines ∙ Familiar with version control using Git, including branching strategies, merge requests, code review, and CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment. ∙ Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills ∙ Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
