About this role
The Marine Service Engineer (EIA) supports marine retrofit and decarbonization projects through hands‑on execution of electrical, automation and instrumentation (EIA) work. The role focuses on vessel surveys, onboard troubleshooting, retrofit integration, commissioning and class acceptance, supporting projects such as energy efficiency upgrades, power system modifications, battery‑ready integrations, shaft generator integrations and shore power preparedness. This position is suited for strong marine EIA engineers who want exposure and growth in marine decarbonization technologies. Attend vessels for surveys, inspections, installation support, commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical, automation and instrumentation systems. Support marine electrical retrofit projects, including: Electrical load analysis and load balancing Protection coordination and breaker selectivity studies Integration of upgraded or modified power systems Perform troubleshooting of shipboard control, monitoring and alarm systems, including PLC‑based systems. Supports project related to energy efficiency and emission reduction, including: Power Management System(PMS) interfacing and optimization Energy monitoring, data acquisition and alarm management systems Participate in electrification / hybrid‑ready projects, such as: UPS and battery system interfaces Monitoring and alarm integration (no battery design responsibility) Coordinate effectively with other disciplines (mechanical, piping, shipyard teams) withinterface awareness. Support project execution through proper documentation, reporting and communication with managers, superintendents and vessel crew. Support class and survey activities with societies such as DNV, ABS, LR, CCS, BV or ClassNK. Assist with: FAT / SAT Commissioning and functional testing Documentation for survey and compliance Work in compliance with shipboard safety rules, PTW systems and risk assessments. Demonstrate strong safety awareness when working on live electrical systems, HV equipment and shipboard environments. Understanding of statutory and regulatory frameworks relevant to decarbonization, including: MARPOL Annex VI Energy efficiency and emissions compliance concepts impacting ship electrical and automation systems. Familiarity with marine electrical standards and technical codes applicable to electrification, battery systems and shore power integration. Understanding of basic piping design principles and class rules to support effective interdisciplinary coordination in retrofit projects (interface awareness, not piping design responsibility). Demonstrates strong safety leadership, especially when working with live electrical systems, batteries, HV equipment and confined shipboard environments. Abilityto work under pressure in shipyard and offshore conditions while maintaining safety and quality standards. Highly detail‑oriented, particularly in control logic, cause & effect, alarm handling and compliance documentation. Continuous improvement mindset, proactive in learning emerging decarbonization technologies and regulatory expectations. Willing and able to travel overseas for vessel attendance, commissioning and surveys. To meet EHS requirement for all concerned and interested parties Any other tasks as and when assigned by manager / management.
