Examine and test engines to identify problems (visual checks, power checks, scan-tool diagnostics, listening for unusual noise, etc.). Identify issues with the fuel, ignition, cooling, lubrication, exhaust, air intake, and engine mounting/suspension systems. For a thorough examination and measurement, disassemble engines or their parts (cylinder head, pistons, crankshaft, timing system). Reassemble and calibrate the engine in accordance with manuals and specifications after repairing or replacing worn-out and defective parts.
