Job Description Get to Know the Team At Grab Financial Group (GrabFin), we're building the future of payments in Southeast Asia. As Engineering Manager, you will lead an engineering team to work closely with other stakeholders in the organization, e.g., Product Managers, Business Lead, Operations, to solve the reconciliation platform problems at our core payment systems and to provide top-notch reconciliation platform capabilities to our users. This role requires you to have Payments and Finance domain knowledge, solid technical skills, strategic guidance, technical leadership and people management skills. Get to Know the Role You will lead an engineering team consisting of software engineers and QAs (SET), responsible for designing, building, and operating our Central Reconciliation Platform for our Fintech foundations. Our solutions are mission-critical, operating 24/7 in some of the most dynamic and diverse markets in the world. Reliability, security, compliance, and speed are not optional – they are the baseline. You will report to a Senior Engineering Manager and work onsite at Grab Singapore office at One-North. Work type: Grab has 5-day in office working. The Critical Tasks You Will Perform Lead the planning and execution of product and engineering strategy and roadmap. Ensure alignment with business goals and changing priorities. Drive cycle planning and team OKRs to deliver measurable outcomes. Embrace "platformization" – creating reusable, scalable capabilities that serve multiple markets and meet future business goals. Own operational excellence and platform efficiency. Participating in On-Call rotations is mandatory. Improve high for engineering standards and culture, fostering ownership, skillfulness, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Drive initiatives to improve the team's software development lifecycle, with a focus on enhancing productivity, reducing technical debt, and optimizing processes. Work with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, operations, and business stakeholders, to build best-in-class products. Define clear objectives, deliverables, and success metrics for projects. Provide technical guidance, participating in design and code reviews to maintain high quality. Apply hands-on coding expertise, with a focus on scalable, secure, testable, and maintainable systems. Recruit, mentor, and retain engineering talent. Provide clear growth pathways for team members and cultivate a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Experienced navigating complex problems in an agile work environment. Qualifications What Essential Skills You Will Need Solid foundation in computer science, with expertise in algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles. At least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, with hands-on coding skills and an understanding of scalable architectures Experience with building and scaling engineering teams (3+ years managing teams of 8+ engineers), with hands-on technical skills in backend (Golang), or web development. Familiarity with engineering best practices for system scalability, availability, testability, maintainability, and security. (microservices, Golang) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS). Hands-on experience working with advanced data technologies (e.g., OLAP, OLTP, MPP, Streaming) to solve problems at large-scale. Experience in building platforms is an advantage. Experience translating business models or product spec into technical architectures that allow growth, monetization, and compliance without compromising scalability or reliability Operational and compliance excellence – ability to implement best practices in observability, SLAs, security, data governance, and regulatory reporting. Solid domain expertise in Payments - understanding of gateway, acquirer, fund flows, e.g., reconciliation, and settlement. Hands-on experience with modern payment technology stacks – including backend architectures, payment integrations, tokenization, encryption, real-time transaction processing, and offline transaction processing. Experience managing diverse teams. Experienced in coaching and inspire others, and building a collaborative team environment. Experienced in influencing stakeholders across different cultures and regions. Experience working with global teams and collaborating on cross-regional projects.
