Role Overview The CPE Engineer owns end-to-end resolution of Supplies product and field quality issues, ensuring fast containment, deep root cause identification, and sustainable corrective actions. This role is expected to operate with a strong sense of urgency, drive accountability across teams, and protect the customer experience while maintaining business continuity. Key Responsibilities 1. End-to-End Issue Ownership (Critical) Take full ownership of Supplies customer/field issues from detection to closure Drive rapid containment actions to protect customers and supply Lead cross-functional teams (Quality, Firmware, R&D, Partner) to resolution Provide clear, concise executive updates (status, risk, next steps) 2. Root Cause & Corrective Action Leadership Lead structured problem solving (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone) with data-driven rigor Challenge assumptions and ensure true root cause, not superficial fixes Ensure corrective actions are validated, implemented, and sustained globally 3. Field & Customer Focus Analyze field returns, customer complaints, and reliability trends Translate field issues into clear engineering problem statements Work closely with regional teams to ensure alignment and responsiveness 4. Manufacturing & Supply Continuity Partner with factories to resolve yield, quality, and process excursions Balance quality vs supply risk, making sound engineering trade-offs Support line recovery and ensure robust process controls 5. Partner Quality & Component Ownership Drive Partner investigations and hold Partner accountable for RCA and CAPA(Corrective Action and Preventive Action) Lead part qualification and changes (eg AOS needs, Cost Reduction projects) Escalate effectively when Partner performance impacts business 6. Data-Driven Insights & Communication Use field data, paretos, and trend analysis to prioritize issues Build clear narratives from data for stakeholders and leadership Communicate risks early with mitigation plans 7. Proactive Risk Identification Identify emerging risks before they become major issues Drive preventive actions and design/process improvements Support NPI with strong field learnings feedback 8. Packaging Engineering Lead Packaging qualifications to support NPI Provide leadership to ensure regional/country Regulatory compliance Support Environmental initiatives Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or related Engineering 3–6 years in product, quality, or manufacturing engineering Proven experience leading complex issue resolution across teams Strong RCA and failure analysis capability Experience working with global teams and suppliers Preferred Qualifications Experience in toner/ink/consumables or similar high-volume manufacturing Familiarity with field reliability and warranty analysis Data tools (Excel, Minitab, Power BI) Key Traits (Expectations) Ownership mentality – drives issues to closure without escalation dependency Bias for action – moves fast, especially on containment Structured thinker – clear logic and strong problem-solving discipline Courage & accountability – challenges teams and escalates when needed Clear communicator – crisp updates with no ambiguity Customer-first mindset – understands real-world impact
